Antrim in AI Q/F
Would Offaly have been better off losing to Antrim in the Leinster championship? Losing offered the Saffrons a handier route to the All Ireland quarter final. And they only got this route due to the fact that certain combinations couldn't meet again in the championship.

Offaly Cork 1999
Did anyone see the re-run of this game on TG4 last Saturday night? I'd forgotten what a great game of hurling it was. some of the point scoring (especially in the first half) was breathtaking. On what was a horrible day for hurling (and standing on the Hill) both teams served up a cracker. If only J...

Re: Pat Delaney's article in last Sunday's Programme
I have to say I agree with Hesh's. I have the same amount of contempt for Laois that Pat has for Offaly. I'll say it to their faces too. If it hurt Pat so much then he'd remember that Horan's "goal" and Kirwan's point were in the same game (in 1981 too). I remember it even though I was onl...

Re: Richie Steps Down
One final point, how is it that there is never a word out of the hurlers, year after year no matter how bad things are going they turn up, give their best for the jersey and just get on with representing the County with great pride no matter who is in charge. I seem to remember the hurlers getting ...

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud
Exactly. There was no reason for any umpire to call in the ref after either goal. The keeper bottled it for the second in particular. It's clutching at straws to suggest that the referee missed something in the build up to either goal that the umpires should have seen. So if I understand you Heshs,...

Re: New Jerseys Please - A call to all Fans
Personally my favourite Offaly jersey is the 1981 Leinster final version where we beat Laois. Green white and gold body with green sleeves and white collar. Similar to the previous years version which had white trim on the end of the sleeves. There’s a great picture of Matt Connor scoring the goal t...

Right so. Who was there on Saturday night?
I'll get the ball rolling.
Not me (to my eternal regret).

Can the allez boys tell me more about this group? Seems like a great idea but I can't find your website anywhere. I've been googling like bejaysus all morning and my boss is getting seriously pissed off with me.

Re: Sunshine supporters
Well I suppose that makes me a sunshine supporter then. I may as well not bother my arse turning up in Portlaoise next Sunday as my presence will offend the hard core wind and rain in February in Casement Park crowd. Maybe the sunshine boys have their reasons for not going to every game. I know I ha...

I'll be glad to see the green sleeves making a return. not sure about the gold trim on the sleeves. Leave the trim out, or maybe make it white. Just like in the early 80s. Keep it simple, although the pin stripes might work for the (shall we say) chubbier Offaly fan(s).

Re: President's Awards
I remember one night he was doing quiz master for the Scor na nOg in Tullamore. One of his questions was to complete the following saying "out of the frying pan..................", to which the young girl answered "hopped the sausage". It took a good 60 seconds for Michael Noel t...

The younger brother (Buffalo on this site) and I were seated high up in the Hogan in line with the edge of the square at the Hill 16 end, so we had a great view of the madness below. Our seats were overlooking the exit and I remember a couple of Offaly fans leaving just as Johnny Dooley was lining u...

I noticed Offaly going around to the Portlaoise GAA club pitch behind the stand about half way through the football game. So maybe they had their intense workout before Kilkenny had theirs, away from watchful eyes.peter wrote:did anyone else notice the difference in kilkenny warming up and offaly warming up?
