Re: Club Hurling championship

Curious from a participation point of view how amalgamation impacts overall playing numbers. I get that it will Improve the quality of the first team, and give more chance of winning. As the years roll on, I wonder how a lad that might be a starter on the football team with Raheen and would have be...

Re: Joe McDonagh cup

I havent posted in a while but I have to post in response to this. Kevin Martin had to go, it was obvious from the league campaign which was disasterous but such is the disinterest it dragged on until we are mired in our current predicament. A few points to make on his tenure: I dont want this to re...

Re: Offaly vs Tipperary - 2014 All-Ireland SHC qualifier Rou

Lads this is so disheartening tipp are walking through for goals. It's the same old same old The forwards run around, tackle poorly to give away a free or let the man break the tackle, our backs try hard but hit the ball anywhere. And most of all my biggest bugbear we are terrible at set pieces. We ...

Re: What are they smoking in Birr?

It's amazing how quickly we have descended from talking about Offalys future and how to fix it to petty club rivalry. To address some points, So Birr won Offaly 2 county all Ireland's in the ninetys??? No other Offaly club had hand act or part in it....really??!! In fairness Birrman that is b@llshit...

Re: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifiers Round 1 Antrim v Offaly

A long drive but well worth it. Not the greatest game of hurling you ever see but a win is a win. .... The Sweeper system that was a big problem this year has been got rid off. thank god. we still have problem with the sweeper system been played against us. mainly we don't know how to use the spare...

Re: All-Ireland Hurling Qualifiers Round 1 Antrim v Offaly

Sounds like Offaly missed 6 or 7 easy goal chances on the radio so they won it the hard way but at least a bit of pride is restored after midweek

Re: County Board

A professional well ran setup will be bought into by the players, but if you have lads not being looked after properly then they will not aspire to perform as well as they can. What does an Offaly county hurler / footballer get for their 8-9 months training (many driving long distances)??? As far a...

Re: County Board

I do not agree that his points are irrelevant to last night. Last night is the result of his points. If the county board are putting on training courses and people aren't attending it's a shocking indictment. I have never once heard of these courses and as a player I would love to attend with a view...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

100% BnM The extra man actually hurt us as Wexford took a forward out, crowded out our forwards and created more space up front. Now if Offaly were being smart we would have played the extra man in midfield and played short passes to midfield and then create the overlap in our half forward line. Ins...

Re: OFFALY UNDER 21 HURLING

This is a bloody disgrace of a match. Since they went a man down we haven't scored. We are so tactically inept it's actually criminal

Re: Strength And Conditioning

lads i think loughnane is correct about strength and conditioning if he was talking about our defence or midfield but bergin and dooley have lots of power but lack real pace and to be honest look completely few up with b whelahan . the word coming from the offaly camp has been poor since janurary w...

Re: Strength And Conditioning

But ya have to admit if Brian Whelahan went out with a game plan and choose the 15 lads he wanted to play it, and it went terribly wrong he would come under awful criticism for not picking the best 15 lads available to him. I understand what you are saying but the game plan was totally wrong we pla...

Re: Strength And Conditioning

I think we have more fundamental problems than just strength and conditioning. If you just look at the way we approached Kilkenny this year and last year. 2 completely different approaches but with a lot if the same personnel. Some like Colin Egan, Joe Bergin & Conor Mahon would suit the approac...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny

"I don't think that we should be starting back at under 13 or even back at minor & trying to build from a good hurling team from there...what we need to do is put the right structure in place for the players we have today...be it senior, u21 & minor & all the way down through the d...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny

It's hard to know where to start after such a hammering. What sets this game apart from other Kilkenny mailings is how soon we were found out, we normally stay with Kilkenny for 30-40 minutes...yesterday it was 5. Right now is not the time for knee jerk reactions. There were positives from yesterday...
