Re: Offaly SFC Round 2
As Offaly2010 has reported, Clara defeated Gracefield in O'Connor Pk this evening in a game that was never really tight at any stage. I think Gracefield won enough ball to have picked-up a few more scores, but they struggled a little bit in the final third of the field and Clara defended well. Niall...

Re: Vote to get Offalys Future back posting here
I was actually going to start a post about the good old days recently. Those were the days when we two of our more enjoyable contributors were busy on this board. Lone Shark: You need to get back in the saddle. It's way to quiet around here without: - Your straight-talking predictions, some of which...

Re: Senior football Championship 1st round
To conclude on the first round: Tullamore 1-7 Ferbane 0-8 - Tullamore started well and went 1-4 to 0-2 ahead. Ronan Monaghan kicked a couple of good frees and then kicked a speculative effort from the sideline that was punched into the net. - However, after that (and that was no more than 15 minutes...

Re: Senior football Championship 1st round
Very briefly, in bullet form. - Clara raced into a 1-2 to 0-0 lead, all from Thomas Deehan. - Shamrocks slowly pegged them back, with PJ Ward and Nigel Dunne both looking in good form. At half-time, Clara were 1-4 to 0-6 ahead. - On the stroke of half-time, Deehan broke for goals and just yards from...

Re: Offaly Vs Meath this sunday
3: I would very much like somebody to tell whether Niall Darby has any experience of taking frees for either club or county in the past? Because out there today he looked as if he had been told five minutes before the game that he was going to take them. Embarrassing stuff for all concerned and Ken...

Re: Interview with Willie Bryan
However is there not a certain contradiction in him criticising the modern day panel? There is. But I think we're all guilty of that. When you're not winning things, everyone is quick to tell you about pride, dedication, etc. However, when you're winning things, the same people want to hear all tho...

Re: Uibh Fhaili SFC odds 2010
I thought Clara were a touch of value myself, but the absence of Pat Flanagan would leave me rethinking matters. Just to clarify, Pat Flanagan is still very much in the mix. The 6-team groups have all the makings of a long summer for a number of teams. Hopefully, when the last of the football is to...

Re: Uibh Fhaili SFC odds
I'm not going to add to the Brian Connor debate - just more weight on young shoulders. However, I will say that, given the new Group structure, it would not surprise me in the slightest to see Walsh Island contesting a County Semi-Final this year. In fact, I think anything less will be considered a ...

Re: Pat Flanagan favourite for Westmeath job
The very best of luck to Pat Flanagan on his appointment. His club record has justifiably provided him with the opportunity of Inter-County Management. I don't think any of us will be defecting, but I'd like to see him do well enough to progress himself further and possibly prepare him for bigger th...

Re: New Official Offaly GAA Website needed
I agree with LS on this one. Web-sites that look sexy are great, but it's the information/content that's important. Making information available is the starting point. Also, much as I like the Edenderry Website, as far as I can see, it's based on the GaelSport templates. I could be wrong here, but I...

Re: Draw for championship
Well. One thing is for certain. We're about as far away from a state of Equilibrium as possible.
There's quite a strong argument that 4 of the top 5 teams in the County have ended up in Group 1.

Re: 2010 O'Byrne Cup - Offaly 1-23 Kilkenny 0-6
Kevin Williamson? Who is this chap? He's a combination of the Williamson's from Walsh Island (his Father played with them) and the Healy's from Ferbane - so no stranger to the GAA. Known as a soccer player through the Junior ranks and LOI. Good soccer player and also played a bit with the Tullamore...

Re: Fixtures Pile Up......in January
Of course a Clara man likes the structure of last years football championship! I'm open to correction on this one, but as far as I'm aware, the current 3 group format has been in place for the Football since 2001. I liked it then too :D If you're looking for decent games they have to be meaningful....

Re: Fixtures Pile Up......in January
I have to agree with LS and MFF on this one. When a Championship campaign has such an extensive League process, it just starts to feel like the League. I think crowds, which are already quite poor, would suffer further. Finding the right mix is the secret. I liked the format of the 2009 Football Cha...

Re: tullamore v ballyhale shamrocks leinster final
This certainly looks like a David and Goliath encounter. Ballyhale are amongst the two best teams in the Country (for me, they're second until they manage to topple the mighty Portumna). Tullamore, at the start of the Offaly Championship, wouldn't have been considered in the top 4 in the County. The...
