Re: Offaly Under 20s hurling 2024
If someone told you 3 or 4 years ago that we'd be disappointed getting a draw against a highly rated Galway under 20 side you'd have said they were mad. Well that's where we are at and that's surely a good sign. It was one that got left behind yes but hopefully the players on reflection will realise...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
Indeed that is true. And all Divisions will operate a 2 up 2 down structure so relegation isn’t beyond the relams of possibilty. You'd have to wonder Frank how long this format will last? Something similar was in place from 2009 to 2011 inclusive, except D1 and D2 were made up of 8 teams each durin...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
The westmeath/wexford result was a freak of nature. A once never to happen again result. Hmmm. Just to point out that Wexford and Westmeath drew in Leinster in Mullingar in 2022 after a tit for tat battle. Then in 2023 when they met in Wexford Park, Wexford hammered Westmeath for 35 minutes and the...

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
Whoa, whoa lads come on now put the handbags down and read a mature balanced assessment of the situation :D So some posters think there is progress being made and others think that's not really the case. I think everyone can agree (in fact it's undeniable) that huge strides have been made at underag...

Re: Offaly Senior Footballers 2024
Our senior footballers beat Mayo in a challenge a few days ago.
Seems the games are behind closed doors (or is it gates?).
Some players wore masks and other disguises entering the ground so as not to be identified I heard.
The GAA has lost the plot!!

Re: Offaly Senior Hurlers 2024
The Langtons have been around the panel for a long time without ever setting the world alight so not really surprising they are gone. Whether it be their own decision or a management one. Liam Langton was central to Offaly winning division 2A in 2021 but his game fell off completely after that. He ...

Re: JP McManus donation
Bracknaghboy always so positive great news sand Will keep clubs a float. Some clubs will be shrewd and use it wisely like installing proper CCTV, lights around a walking track or fixing dodgy astroturf around the goalmouths. Stuff like that. Others will use it to up the ante in terms of hunting dow...

Re: JP McManus donation
It'll make little or no difference in the long run I fear.
Clubs will squander the money on managers, performance coaches, statisticians and God knows what else for their adult teams.
Some of the figures been handed to managers is truely appalling. It surely can't be sustainable.

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
Best team won today no questioning that. But K/K sideline were really poor. In the first half it was becoming clear puckout options were limited so putting ball on top of Leigh Kavanagh made a bad situation worse, Kiely should have started or come in earlier. The lack off physicality was massively o...

Re: New club football format
I haven't spoken to a single person who thinks this is a good idea and that includes 5 players so far. Totally devalues the championships. What were they thinking dreaming up such a concept and then even crazier the clubs voted for it! I wonder will any club think of taking the piss on a grand scale...

Re: Offaly Senior A Hurling Championship 2023
For me it’s now a no brainer what the CB should do with the county final going forward but I’d say the best that will happen will be alternate years. In fact Offaly could do with playing a few games in Birr next year in both league and championship. Capacity wont be an issue and some of those Divis...
