Re: Interim Management Team for Offaly Senior Football Panel
Awful punnery aside do you think Brendan could 'hack it' as manager? Has he won anything of note?

Re: Your Offaly Championship Team 2009
Ther's 2 good declan Kelly midfielders- Kilclonfert and Erin Rovers, both should be given a chance. I would have seen more of the Kilclonfert declan, who on his day can be excellent, great fielder of the ball.lovelyhurling wrote:the best midfielder ive seen to date after niall smith is declan kelly

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud
Infringements: Vaughan took the goalie out of it for the first goal. The second was goalkeepers fault, no infringement there at all.

Re: Rhode V Kilmacud
The radio 3 commentary was very entertaining especially Paddy McCormack who came out with a few gems! It was painful to watch Rhode lose this one, especially as they were by far the better team in the first half and just needed to put a few scores on the board in the second half to keep Crokes at bay.

Re: intermediate football champ
St. Brigid's to meet Walsh Island in the final. Brigid's gave Doon a sound beating on Sunday. Do Walsh Island have any chance in the final? They are a good team but their easy run to the final won't do them any favours.

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
He has been known to insult various managers in the not so distant pass for their team selections etc and worse in cases. These are not the credentials that befit a County Manager. Its all a fcukin' joke......... I know what you're talkin' about Hyper, I hope to God nothin like this happens on the ...

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
Yea bazza that would make sense, but I don't think past managerial achievements were considered. I'm not slating Richie I'm sure he will do well but can anyone tell me any reason he got the job other than being captain in '82, it doesn't make sense to me.

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
I have no doubt he would inspire guts and determination, it's the other aspects of management I'm worried about, such as experience at the highest level. Great players do not great managers make (going back to the Steve Staunton comparison).

Re: Richie Connor set to become new manager
Would it not be the football equivalent of giving Steve Staunton the Ireland job? Great player in his day no doubt but he should obviously be chosen for his managerial record. As far as I know he has been at the helm with Walsh Island for the last few years (doing reasonably well) and managed Laois ...

Re: intermediate football champ
What do you mean an open draw for semi-final? It's Island V Brigids in one semi and winners of the 2 quarter finals in the other semi, where's the confusion??

Re: intermediate football champ
I think Lone Shark that the winners of 2 groups(group 1 and 3 I think) go straight into the semis and the 2nd place team in group A and B and the top 2 in group C go into a quarter final. So as illustrated above WI and Croghan play each other in the semi and it's Raheen V. Doon in one quarter and Tu...

Re: Next Manager
I suppose Jack O' Connor would be out of the question, unless he wants to emulate his nemesis Mick O 'Dwyer by going around the country and improving the fortunes of the weaker counties. I believe he's teaching in South Kerry so it's probably unrealistic to expect him to travel to Offaly and back se...

Re: Intermediate Championship
Hi everyone, jut thought I'd re-kindle this thread and see if anyone has any insights. The last week has seen convincing victories for Walsh Island, Croghan and Doon. Also Birr had a good win over Clonbullogue (surprised me this, could they be contenders??) Intermediate should be very interesting th...
