Re: O'Byrne and Walsh cups 2022

Was at the game. Offaly started off very well. Played nice style of hurling and ignored the crowds pleas to " just drive it". Antrim man sent off seemed to spur on Antrim and offaly slacked off a bit. Could easily have lost as Antrim had penalty saved and had number of shots on goal thst needed to ...

Re: National leagues 2022

Jesus lads theres no two ways round it. Will be a year of bad beatings in the leagues, hard to see where the footballers are going to pick up points. Where do Offaly footballers play Cork? I didn’t see that game on the fixture list. Offaly v Cork (football) in O'Connor Park 27th March. I sent the w...

Re: Club Hurling championship

The other thing is most people outside Offaly or Kilkenny just see Ballyhale 3-24 Rynaghs 2-18, spot the 9 point win and shrug "ah as expected". They aren't even aware it was after extra time. A win would have added to the general feel good factor around Offaly GAA right now but an honourable defea...

Re: Club Hurling championship

Most will agree its very hard to see anything other than a Ballyhale win against Rynaghs on Sunday. Home advantage in Tullamore will be of benefit and this Rynaghs team when firing on all cylynders can put in a very strong performance. Maybe Ryaghs need a team like Ballyhale is what Rynaghs need as...

Re: Club Hurling championship

This Saturday, 1pm start in OCP against Kildalkey, Meath senior champions. Looks like a very tough one to call on paper. Seir Kieran beat these quite well two years ago, but Clodiagh Gaels mightn't quite be at that level, while by all accounts Kildalkey have got stronger since then. Clara, Shamrock...

Re: Offaly Hurlers 2022

I can see Offaly taking some heavy beatings in the league this year , but in the long run I think it will stand to us in the Championship. It certainly did for Westmeath this year. Hopefully we see a few new faces on the panel too. Also can someone tell me why is Oisin Kelly not hurling ? Oisin Kel...

Re: Club Hurling championship

Gaels won. Tullamore dramatically bet. Just goes to show how an amalgamation can work if everyone buys into it. Killurin were a poor intermediate team And Killeigh a Junior A team when they joined. Next year they will hurl Senior A and that’s taken only 7 years (correct me if I’m wrong). It’s alway...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021

Well done Tullamore. So over the 120 odd minutes played to decide a winner it was 1-17 to 2-12. In reality there about 7 or 8 point difference would have been a more accurate reflection across the 2 days. Tullamore nearly fell into the same trap as 2 weeks but just about pushed on a bit more. If yo...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021

Well done to Tullamore. Definitely deserved their win. I realise that Tullamore have won the last 2 under 20s, but I still don't see any team dominating in the same way Rhode have over the last few years. Would it shock anyone over the next 5 years if we had at least 3 different winners of the Dowl...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021

Tullamore 0-9. Rhode 1-4. Tullamore were the better team over the hour, the final margin does not reflect their dominance, Rhode’s penalty came in added time. Tullamore had I reckon 12 wides today. Tullamore now have 28 county titles. Rhode just did not perform today, maybe time has caught up on som...

Re: Offaly Senior Football Championship 2021

If this was any game other than a final the red card wouldn’t have been overturned. GAA have a history of rescinding a red card if it means a player will miss the chance to play in the final. It happened this year in the All Ireland final for Limerick hurler Peter Casey. Not a very good reason. Dub...
