Re: Relegated
I think a lot of people are ignoring the biggest issue regarding the Offaly senior football team at the moment. The manager and his selection committee are completely out of their depth. How can players get motivated when someone like this is in charge. And don't be fooled by comments saying the man...

Re: Players Of The Year
Scoring about 4-20 from play as Coolderry won the County Senior and an Offaly representatives first provincial title in four years mustn't be enough to get U-21 hurler of the year any more! Not to mention the fact that he dragged Roscrea vocational school to and All-Final.

Re: Corrigan calls for Parish Teams
Still can't agree with you LS. Your list there shows basically a month long period from June-July where no games were played. Could a few games not have been played then? And I still can't see why 2 lads should prevent 200 other players in hurling and football from getting more games. If a few games...

Re: Corrigan calls for Parish Teams
Some lads might be forced to play a few matches close together i.e. maybe a minor match on a Monday and an u-21 match on a Thursday. If you look back at the calendar last summer there was at least ten weeks without senior hurling or football championship. And Offaly minors were knocked out very earl...

Re: Corrigan calls for Parish Teams
It's all well and good talking about these divisional and parish teams until you really begin to see how it could be implemented. I think a factor that a lot of people on this forum forget about is that Offaly is still a hot bed for the dual player. For instance, if Cappincur were to join a division...

Re: U21 hurling championship..
Sean1976 are you not worried about the weaker lads from these clubs not getting a run on the amalgamated team in the U-21 club championship or is it all about the development of elite players for you? Also, all this rubbish about North/South is really irrelevant. Just look at the Offaly team last S...

Re: U21 hurling championship..
You always hear of teams saying that they "don't have the numbers", but I've found that in a significant minority of cases that's the truth, but in a majority of situations it's code for "we don't have fifteen lads that are good enough". Have to agree with you on this point LS. ...

Re: U21 hurling championship..
Could Ballinamere, Brosna Gaels and Clara not field a full 15 or what's the reason behind the ammalgamtion? Having won the Minor B three years ago I thought Brosna would be able to field a team? And Ballinamere had an U-21 football team this year didn't they?

Re: Brian Carroll - 100 not out
Carroll made his NHL debut in far-off Slaughtneil, Co. Derry, almost nine years ago to the day, while still 18. I thought he was older than 27? Was he on the minor team that won Leinster in 2000? And fair play to him. He gets a serious amount of unwarranted criticism in my opinion for someone who s...

Re: Interview with Jody Gunning
Jody just seems to be hell bent on getting that elusive Leinster crown for Rhode. His logic seems to be that Rhode can take all the best players in Croghan and Clonmore to beef up their team and that the likes of Brian Kavanagh should be sent back to Longford. If Rhode don't win Leinster with the wh...

Re: General Election time
What decent Fine Gael candidate were people meant to vote for in North Offaly? I don't know about ye but I'm not going to vote for some young inexperienced candidate like Quinn who will be pushed to the back and get no say in anything worthwhile. Whether you like it or not politics is local. Look at...

Re: offaly vs galway
Have to disagree with you Old Yellar. Players play within within their comfort zone against Division 2 teams. It's simple enough. If Offaly are beating a team like Kerry by ten points at home, which was happening in games when Offaly were in Division 2, they are going to sit back and relax towards t...
