Re: Respect
I enjoy the anonymity of the site, and don't particularly feel comfortable revealing my identity. I have always respected players and officials, and never made anything personal (intentionally at least), and so never minded posting anonymously. Given that some have decided to reveal their identities...

Re: Offaly v Kilkenny
Championship week is such a strange thing. This time last week, I was expecting a mauling, but as the game gets closer, I'm starting to convince myself that we have a chance. Which feeling was right will become apparent, but I'm really looking forward to it. Nowlan Park is a lovely ground to attend ...

Re: Hurling to return to St Brendan's Park
I live in the South of the County, and have always been an advocate of as much hurling as possible being played in Birr. This is not because I think Offaly will hurl better in Birr, but for reasons I'll explain below. However, the Birr club have done themselves no favours, and it's almost getting to...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
It's great to be back to this time of year again, and here's hoping for an exciting start to the championship. Unfortunately, herself is dragging me down the country to a wedding, so Kinnitty v Shinrone Sunday evening is my only hope of seeing any action. Tullamore v Ballinamere Much depends on what...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
Fair play for putting that together. I've just one quibble, that is the amount of matches you have for 6pm on the Sunday evening and the scarce resource that is referees. Then again, some of those 6pm games could be moved to 12 noon (and C&R v B-K could be played on the Friday or Saturday). But...

Re: Offaly Hurling Championships 2014
How about this for an effort fellas. Granted there are probably a couple of requests from clubs that had to be adhered to, but it's much more compressed and leaves only one game over for the Monday, which I just can't squeeze in. (I'd put it at 12 noon rahter than later, to at least give lads few ho...

Personal Attakcs on Individuals
I don't like starting new topics to discuss posts that are part of other threads, but I think this merits it. I enjoy this forum greatly, and it's brilliant to be able to discuss all things Offaly with like-minded individuals. However, I've noticed a worrying trend of late, which needs to be address...

Re: Offaly V Antrim part 1
I don't want to seem reactionary, or to be accused of scare-mongering, but today is a very dark day for Offaly hurling. We've fallen out of the top 12 (another chance to come I know, but it's a stupid system that doesn't send the 2A winners straight up) without putting up a big fight. The tactic of ...

Re: NHL Wexford v Offaly 21 february 2014
There's no doubt it's been a disappointing start to the league campaign, as Laois and Wexford are two teams that Offaly can always realistically hope to beat. That said, both Counties have done better work at all levels over the past 8-10 years than we have, so it would be unfair on both to say they...

Re: 2014 WALSH Cup
On the Bergin pull, I'm certainly not here to hang the Clareen man - in fairness I'd say for every foul he's committed in his career he's had five fouls committed against him. Above all, he's not a guy who I've ever seen go out to hurt an opponent. Yet having said that, in this instance he absolute...

Re: Hurling Championship
Very well done to KK on finally getting over the line. They've done a massive amount of work at underage level over the past 30 years or so and have been coming close at Senior level in the past decade and fully deserve to have their name on the Sean Robbins. The provincial club draw, while not easy...

Re: Hurling Championship
Has anyone managed to see any fixtures for next weekends hurling yet lads. From what I've heard, the Senior/Inter/Junior semi's are all going ahead but Offaly Co Board are obviously trying to keep it a secret for as long as possible!!

Re: minor A club hurling championship
At the risk of sounding unintentionally patronising kinnittyman, that's a massive achievement for ye to finish top of a group featuring Birr and Rynaghs. It's hard to compete with the bigger clubs (especially those based in a town/towns) at underage level so very well done so far. I've been away alo...

Re: McDonnell in running for Offaly football job
The Committee, (Pat Teehan, Martin Boland, Fr Sean Heaney, Dave Kavanagh) appointed to recommend senior management for 2013 are recommending the appointment of Emmet McDonnell as manager. Full details of his backroom team will be released later. Emmet has managed several underage teams in Westmeath...

Re: Offaly vs Cork - SHC Qualifier Rnd 2 07/07/2012
did sean ryan not score 1 3 last week for birr v rathnure down in wexford park? He could have had yellar and to be fair, is a regular enough scorer for Birr at club level. At inter-county level when the pace quickens however, he doesn't get the time he needs as he wouldn't be the most natural of fo...
