With due regard to the courage of Paudie Mulhare for lining out in Clare 3 in 98 , this must go down as the most heroic hour ever in an Offaly Jersey in either code. Woke up to shocking news and took a brave decision to line out. Put his body on the line to halt a rampaging Waterford attack coming r...

Re: Michael Haverty
It was disgusting stuff from Haverty. Deise/Galway and Cork crowd around us all agreed. What makes it all the more incredible is the man is a ‘playing’ ref who hurled a long club career in the Galway SHC. I’ve never in all my days seen a decision as was given against Joe Bergin for first timing that...

Re: Sunshine supporters
I’m with Sydthebeat on this. Some of this is holierthanthou stuff. You simply can’t be everywhere. I was at the KK game like all others there knowing were on a hiding to nothing. For the record, I was all set to play in a tag rugby blitz in LK on Saturday and then to the match after with a few Patri...

Re: Best Minor Hurler ever.
I remember seeing Troy hurl Vocational Schools v KK and scoring about 1-16 or something ridiculous like that. He was unreal lean at the time too. I think John Power was the opposite centre fwd for KK on the day. He was good too but not a patch on Troy. Mongo Cahill was our greatest loss. Adrian Rona...

Re: OFFALY V KILKENNY.
Lads Keep the powder dry on the criticism. There were some positives to be taken from today. The backs hurled very well and there was a lot of honesty throughout the park. Hopefully the u-21s can take something from today and bag a Leinster title. 11 and 14 are real problem positions for us. In real...

Re: Coolderry V Ballinamere
Epic from MD. T’was 3-1 , cant gave him the third. Goal 1. A Ronaldo-class shimmy on a low ball on the 21 sending the full back one way and him the other to finish it. Goal 2. A rifle of a shot from the 14 after a sweeping movement downfield movement. Goal 3. Wing forward delivers from out left on t...

Re: Players opting out
Lads as interesting as it is to know what high profile players do in their day jobs , it is completely out of order to speculate on their individual levels of commitment to an amateur sport. You can bitch about the ODriscolls, the Ronaldos all you like as they are up there for that kind of criticism...

Personally I think he’s a top class ref but did anyone else think Michael Haverty of Portumna was a strange appointment for this one?

Best Football: 82 Final - without reproach Hurling: Leinster Hurling Final 1995. A serious display of backsmanship and unreal skill all around the park given the conditions. Worst Football: Take your pick from the tumbleweed generation of the late 80s to mid 90s. Hurling: Undoubtedly...

Re: 2nd level schools
Speaking from the outside here as one who spent 6 years in one of those often maligned Leinster Rugby Schools it seems to me that there is nowhere near the level of interest from past pupils and say , local feeder clubs in the performance of the schools teams in my part of Offaly as there is in othe...
