Re: Offaly v Fermanagh

I was re-watching it and it's easy to be analytical about it now, but it was a very uncomfortable 15 minute spell before the Offaly goal.

Re: Offaly v Fermanagh

To a certain degree you could say that Offaly closed out the game poorly. However Fermanagh got their 11th point after 59 minutes and only scored once more in the last 15 minutes that got played. It was the four points conceded just after the water break from the 52nd to the 59th minute that were th...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

Interesting to hear a number of high profile past Kilkenny legends giving out about the state of the game today. Richie Power and Eoin Larkin absolutely slating the way the game has gone and they are finding football more entertaining! The two of them probably have 20 all Ireland’s between them and...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

Your reference to Cody's interview phrases is telling too. Those phrases mean nothing and are merely empty words. Not sure how anybody could yearn for those type of interviews. If this is the level of analysis that KK partake in (and I highly doubt it ever was) I'd be worried for their future. Corr...

Re: Div 3 South predictions & general comment

Yes, let's not blow Tipperary up too much. Personnel wise, they've been weakened since last year, so there is some optimism to be drawn from that. In last year's Munster Championship, Cork on a good day beat Kerry on a bad day and Tipperary on a good day beat Cork on a bad day. In the league, Tipp s...

Re: Div 3 South predictions & general comment

I only got the Twitter updates. It looked like the frees kept Limerick in touch when Offaly had a slight advantage in the 2nd half. Limerick got 5 points from frees and Offaly got zero. Did Offaly commit fouls in fear of Limerick getting in for a goal?

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

POTH and BNM man it must have been absolute torture for ye boys watching hurling in the 90's and 00's. How they you survive all that unscripted play, ground hurling, aerial hurling, loads of mistakes, goalmouth action....oh the horror of it all and not a clipboard to be seen. It was grand back then...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

But hey let’s score 30 points most of which comes from a free taker or from a player with acres of room and no chance of getting hooked or blocked. Jaysus, a fella using his head and finding space instead of standing beside his marker! Obviously the preferred option is 12 proper points set up by fi...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

In fairness to Offaly, we stayed loyal to a lot of the old ways while other counties evolved.
I doubt many other counties will be copying our approach though...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

I didn't expect that margin, but it's a great sign. Nice to see Offaly pushing on and winning handsomely when we're that bit better than the opposition. I'm delighted the players resisted the temptation to drop a couple of gears and make a game of it, as has been the habit in the past in similar sit...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

It's only 3 years since Offaly got to the league quarter final and gave Kilkenny plenty of it. Last year Offaly bettered Antrim but were hit with a couple of of late goals to lose. Antrim didn't need the same luck to beat Klare last Sunday. While we have to be realistic about the gap between the eli...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

33% of that team were hurling in a glorified intermediate club championship in 2020. 53% of that team didn’t win a senior club championship game in 2020. Makes you think that the best hurlers in the county are not on that panel due to their own choice or through management selections. Damning enoug...

Re: Offaly Hurling 2021

What is pleasing is that Offaly took control in the 2nd quarter after the water break. This is precisely the point of the game where Offaly usually start to unravel against underdogs and create the beginnings of a shock. It's a good sign that after a poor opening the unit used the break to straighte...

Re: Shane Lowry

Undoubtedly this is great news. Whatever the financial element may look like, I think it will create a bit of buzz in the county. And it's important to note that Lowry has been giving assistance to club and county long before this. In case people form an impression that he only decided to get involv...
