You probably mean Niall Furlong?

David Dunican in goals, Diarmuid O'Neill, Geordie O'Meara, Marcus Dalton would be 4 other key players from last year.

Could be a long second half

Hopefully louth are as headless tactically when they have the use off the wind

Offaly goalie obviously been watching Niall Morgan with that kick pass, pity it only led to a turnover

Fair dues made a decent fist of it

Shooting in both codes at all levels needs worked on badly

That was supposed to be a decent enough louth team, looked physically far on. There’ll definitely be a few of those lads who’ll play county ball soon. Dalton and the O’Neill chap look like great talents

That was desperate disappointing stuff, we had zero tactics for 50 minutes of the game. Played with a storm and for much of the first half allowed Louth to have the ball unopposed until they hit well inside the 45.

Young Melia is the best footballer we have, how is he not out the field and young Dunican in goals is beyond me, only man with a bit of pace to attack and use the ball.

I'm shocked at how far off the mark many of them players are and some of them 3 years at this grade.
I know it was a rough evening weather wise but if we had a go at them when we were 1-02 to 0 score up we could have put them under serious pressure. Lads were in a panic to go backways.
We were handed 2 goals, keeper kicked a free and O'Neill scored 2 great points. Kellaghan scored a point from play, his only contribution, 15, 11, 12, 13, hardly touched the ball.....at all, and young Gallagher at 14 missed a few handy ones. So one point from play for the forwards.
I don't doubt that a lot of work has gone into it and I don't doubt that there are talented players on the team but lads have to be encouraged to play, that is not happening. There were definitely a few questionable choices on the team too.

Yeah a lot of fair comments there.

Wouldn’t be a team id know a whole lot of. Could be a thing that we’re shifting the focus at underage to development as opposed to going all out for wins. The boy melia looks like the archetypal modern keeper so perhaps is being groomed into that role for the senior team. He looks very tidy, if the emphasis was on winning we’d maybe have thought of playing him in a more threatening area of the field.

Think thats a fairly harsh view on the goals we got, we got the ball into an area that caused panic, you could just as easily say we handed them a goal too tbf. Thought the midfielders did alright despite the fact we were outsized in most sectors.

Yeah Disappointing showing from the lads considering the strong start and panel of players. Looks like they’ll have to beat longford and kildare who look much stronger than louth on paper.

Game was lost in the first half. We simply didn’t or couldn’t find a way to use a very strong breeze. Kicking only two points in that half, getting a lucky enough goal. And then not score for the last 15 minutes of the first half!!

No ball was kicked into the forwards and then shot selection was shocking at times.

Louth are a decent team though. They have physicality and pace and while they did hit a few bad wides too, they also got some great scores. Their no.11 was very good, I had him down for about 1-3.

But fair play to Offaly for not dropping their heads and got back to a point with a few minutes left.

Have to mention our goalie Conor Melia. Thought he was excellent and really wanted to be involved and brought pace to the team. And a brilliant save in the second half too.

Best of luck to the minors tomorrow night.
