Conor Doyle would be a massive boost to have back, anyone know if he is far off? Hurled a bit in goals with UL freshers this year due to injury.

Because he is injured . The poor lad has a few setbacks with the hand injury he sustained last year Would be on the team if he was fit and available . I’d imagine Marcus Dalton and Niall Furlong will come back on the panel when the football is over looking at the game last week we could do with their physicality.
We're playing Galway? We were playing Dublin in Parnell park? Any day any Offaly team beat any Dublin team in Parnell park is a surprise and very difficult to beat Galway regardless of what happened at minor, this is completely different. I think we'll have a right go to at it, these lads are a fantastic bunch of lads and really give all to the cause and most of them will contribute hugely to the seniors over the years.
What makes it completely different? Mostly the same group of lads that we’ve been to all ireland finals with 2 years in a row. Galway with a poor recent record at this age grade.joey1001 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 8:58 amWe're playing Galway? We were playing Dublin in Parnell park? I'm sorry, but the win in Parnell Park was not a surprise victory, no matter how much you try and spin it. Offaly hammered those Dublin lads at minor in 2022 and beat them comfortably enough at u20 in 2023. Borne out by the bookies having had Offaly as odds on favourites.joey1001 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 8:58 amWe're playing Galway? We were playing Dublin in Parnell park? That's not to say that Offaly won't be beaten today, or be beaten by Dublin if they play them again. But, come on, let's show some honesty when talking about the results
No, that is not a poor Dublin team. It's highly rated internally in fact.joey1001 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 10:05 amFaithfully wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 9:31 amI'm sorry, but the win in Parnell Park was not a surprise victory, no matter how much you try and spin it. As I said what happened at minor has no bearing really on u-20.. going to Parnell park expecting a win is a bit much, granted we got it but I assume that's a very poor Dublin team. Good minor teams particularly from small counties don't always become top under 20 teams and poor minor teams can improve. Boys become men, lads develop, other lads come through that were not there before, lads go to college, change sport etc.. we were favourites because of minor team and as you said last year's result but that has no bearing on this year and underage is completely unpredictable. Lads were suggesting we got a fright against Dublin as if to say we should have been beating them easy it's nonsense. That's Offaly hurlers in Parnell park against Dublin it's a bit win when you consider where hurling is coming from in Offaly. If we are in any way competitive against Galway today it would be another big boost for these lads who's goal ultimately is to add to the senior team and get them where they need to be. Home advantage and weather will narrow the gap but it's a huge ask of these lads who are fantastic bunch. The work that went into underage over the last 10-15 years has improved hurling no end in the county right up to senior and they will be bolstered and be able to improve by the likes of these lads coming in over the next few years, exciting times in both codes.
Going to Dublin and "expecting" a win is talking rot and frankly placing unrealistic and counter productive expectations on young players. The goal for any underage player particularly minor is to develop themselves and take the next step to being a good senior player, an underage title along the way is a bonus and will be forgotten about if it doesn't impact the senior team in a few years, this team competing means that there should be a good few players going through to the seniors.greenairfield wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 10:09 am Joey stop talking rot Offaly were favs against Dublin so were expecting to win.
There ultimate goal is to win an all Ireland 20 title with there short term goal to try get leinster title to get there.
