What will hurling look like in South Offaly in 5 or 10 years
Time ?
Probably only end up with 3 clubs max .
It's discussion no wants to have but needs to be addressed.
Demographics are changing and so are people's choices.
'3 clubs' this must be an exaggeration. At either Adult or Underage.

1.Kinnity
2.Ballyskenagh/Killavilla
3.Shinrone
4.Coolderry
5.Birr
6.Drumcullen
7.Clareen
8.Carrig and Riverstown
9.Crinkle

There's 3 clubs there that have fielded football clubs this year but it would be hard to see 6 of these hurling clubs folding in the near future???

I meant senior but how many teams conceeded
Games ???
You look at the numbers in school the ratio of Male to female has flipped .
My road about 10 kids out of 20 + houses
Majority of them are girls only 2 lads .
Failure to plan ahead for change coming down the line
Is why were playing Joe Mac ?????

Only time will tell . If I was to make a wild guess for 10 years time I would say the below but in reality bar a few it's like guessing the lotto numbers !!!

Kilcormac/Killoughey
Shinrone
Ballinamere
Carrig and Riverstown
Birr
Coolderry
Kinnity
Clara
St.Rynaghs
Tullamore

A lot depends on how the Senior championship is structured over the next dozen years or so. Will the CB be happy to leave it at 10 teams or will they try to streamline it down to 8.

If they do then your nailed on senior clubs are probably

Kilcormac/Killoughey
Birr
St Rynaghs
Ballinamere
Shinrone

Then you’ll have Seir Kieran, Kinnitty, Tullamore, Coolderry, Clodiagh Gaels up and down between the grades.

If the top tier remains at 10 then clubs have a bit more wriggle room but if you’re not in that top 10 then something is going badly wrong in your club (numbers, coaching, interest levels etc etc) as the quality outside of the Big 6 is pretty average at best.

We need new agreements with club that make sense lusmagh playing with kinnitty and coolderry playing with CRC makes no sense whole thing needs to be looked at. Clubs when joining up should go to the parish next to them not through it!
Who do them clubs go and play with them? I’m sure those partnerships are viewed as being the best for both clubs. No point in 2 bigger clubs joining and having 28 young lads or 2 smaller clubs joining with 15-16

Anecdotal evidence of 8 girls and 2 lads on your road does not equate to a broader level.

Ever heard of a small sample size?

You do realise Ballyskenach & Killavilla are amalgamated for some years now and they play with Shinrone underage !! What’s the problem with them playing with Crc when they border Crinkill ??

I suppose coolderry with playing with Bally/kiilavilla at certain levels make sense .
Then surely carrig -Riverstown could play with shinrone
As they have alot more in common going by schools
Etc at certain levels .
We have to think of the future of the county team
Try and put indifferences aside .
