A challenge!
Saw this on Twitter.
Basically name an Offaly 15.
The catch is, they’ve to be from 15 different clubs. I’ve seen Cork and Kerry ones so far. The Kerry one is scarily impressive. There’s a Dublin one too.
Football or hurling.
The bit on Twitter describes it as : “ You gotta pick a county team but can only use one player per club (any era).”
Right, off with ye!

Re: A challenge!
Would usually be “agin” this lark but To pass the time
Sorry for any spelling errors
Used 2015/ 16 as a cut off
The club rule and positioning complicates things for instance Martin Hanamy who is probably one of the finest hurlers Offaly ever produced makes way
Also avoided places where players played for different clubs and other anomalies or else could have picked 3 bally/kill Paddy Kirwin Pat Cleary or joe dooley or Belmont’s John Ryan or David Nally as Shannonbridge or Ferbane

2 Tom Donohue Ballinamere

Re: A challenge!
One from Offaly football all time, one from the players I've seen live only (and by that I mean from the age where I was old enough to have some clue what was going on, so we'll say 89 onwards, that sort of vicinity.
This gets very tricky actually - taking the all-time one, midfield should be simple in that it would be Bryan/McManus all day, but you can't leave out Matt Connor, so that's that out the window. Likewise, it seems ridiculous not to have Paddy McCormack in there, but Niall McNamee has just made too much of an impression on my to ignore.
ALL TIME
Martin Furlong
(Tullamore)
Mick Ryan Greg Hughes Mick O’Rourke
(Doon) (Cloghan/St. Rynagh’s) (Killeigh/Clodiagh Gaels)
Finbarr Cullen Nicholas Clavin Karol Slattery
(Edenderry) (St. Carthage’s/ Shamrocks) (Gracefield)
Mick Casey Ciarán McManus
(St. Brigid’s) (Tubber)
Colm Quinn Kevin Kilmurray Tony McTague
(Ballycumber) (Daingean) (Ferbane)
Johnny Cooney Matt Connor Niall McNamee
(Erin Rovers) (Walsh Island) (Rhode)
'89 Onwards
Alan Mulhall
(Walsh Island)
Cathal Daly Conor Evans Ger Rafferty
(Tullamore) (Ballyfore) (St. Rynagh’s)
James Stewart John Kenny Karol Slattery
(Clara) (Daingean) (Gracefield)
James Grennan Ciarán McManus
(Ferbane) (Tubber)
Colm Quinn Neville Coughlan Peter Cunningham
(Ballycumber) (Shamrocks) (Bracknagh)
Vinny Claffey Peter Brady Niall McNamee
(Doon) (Edenderry) (Rhode)

After looking at my original team I remember paddy Molloy from drumcullen, I never saw him play but my father rates him as our best ever forward. Many older hurling people say Joe Murphy from kilcormac was as good a fullback as ever played the game and could have played in any era.

Re: A challenge!
Exiles and imports
Broke the rules by including one present player
maybe not as strong side as it might be, I have a lot of of gaps in my knowledge. But insisted, only one player per club (cost Daithi Regan and Eoin Kelly) that the player had to have had an extended championship run with Offaly (ruled out Francis Kerrigan etc)or the county they were based in and they had played that number.
1 Brendan Kehoe Southern Gaels
2 Tom Donohue Kilmordaly
3. Paddy Spellman Faughs
4. Seamus Tooher forget the club but London
5. Tom Connoeely St Gabriels
6. Aidan Tracey Mellick Eyrecourt
7. David Franks Carrickshock
8. Mick Spain Mountrath
9. Jack Mckenna Borrisokane, Knockshegowna
10. Joe Mckenna South Liberities
11. Mick (Kinnitty) Coridal Offaly club New York
12 Brendan Murphy UCD 3 Dublin medals
13. Paddy Corrigan Ballyboden St Endas
14.Michael Duignan Raheens Kildare definitely played football unsure if he played hurling
15. Pat Cleary Kilmancud Crokes Portlaoise

Re: A challenge!
I’m sure we are all very bored...
let’s see who can name the man of the match and top scorer in the last 10 senior club finals?
