I know people say that this is only the O'Byrne Cup and not to get carried away, well, I for one am getting carried away. I think that a loss like this is a disaster for the team, let the inquest begin. Open top bus cancelled in Clara tonight, Tubber tomorrow night and in Rhode also. We'll still drink for a week, mind you!

all joking aside Pats aim is to get us out of division 4 and get us at least division 2 in the next few years theres no point in going up one year and back down the next like what happen under Emmett McDonnell time over us if we get a result this sunday we could have another 1 or 2 games before the league starts which is a chance to look at young players there were a few not there tonight young Evans from gracefield maybe with the under 21's out saturday .

Dublin have already qualified for the semi finals, as group winners, so we can't qualify for them now.

Maybe there is a shield competition, but the O Byrne Cup dream that once shone so bright is now extinguished!

Maynooth University hammered Laois last night. They are going to be playing the championship soon too. College teams are always well organised this time of year. its going to be a difficult game for the faithful but i believe a good display is on the cards again.

Decent effort from Offaly last night the players worked hard and competed all night. The lighter players might have fallen off a few tackles, but you can't fault the effort.

Offaly had the breeze in the first half and needed to be 6+ ahead at half time to get eyebrows raised. As it happened Dublin managed to stay in touch for most of the half before Offaly stretched a 3 point gap close to the break.
On reflection Offaly will probably feel a few too many frees were given away to keep Dublin in touch and maybe the breeze could have been used better for quicker deliveries.

It was good to see some of new faces making a good case for more games in the upcoming league.

Great to see Offaly put in a decent performance last night, the most important thing you can ask for at this time of year .

Although it was an experimental Dublin team with the exception of Ogara , Rock and Fitzimons most of these fringe players would fancy there chances of a championship start if they were playing there football outside the capital .

Maynooth will be a real challenge on Sunday most of these players have inter-county experience , they will also be full of confidence after there demolition of Laois .

Does anyone know if the u21s have a Hastings cup game at the weekend ? That is a lot of football far the lads involved with both .

Wasn't at the game but from the score line at half time and full time it seems we were at least attacking in both games and we didn't just shut up shop and defend like the past number of years . It's early doors but I like the positive attitude that Pat has , he said it's time to stop moaning about training facilities and the like and just get on with the hard work . Best of luck to all the lads involved in and off the pitch this year.

under 21 Hasting cup result offaly 1-10 leitrim 0-12 offaly were 5 points down at one stage but came good to win it at least its another win and it keeps things ticking over nice for the start of the league
for some of the under 21's who are in with the seniors.

Regardless of how poor the opposition may have been, I'd imagine it's a while since Offaly were able to canter to such an easy win?!
