Does anybody actually know who Offaly has for Strength and Conditioning? For Hurling/Gaelic Football. And is there different S+C coaches for the different age groups?

don't think theirs one for underage if there is he should get the run, because i never seen a group of young men so unfit i was at both minors hurling games this year and under 21 again wexford and we are years behind. as for Joe Quinn with the hurlers he should get them back in now, as they were blowing out of their arses after 20 minutes again kilkenny and tipp, .

any word on who is going to manage offaly hurlers next year .
looking at the club semi last sunday it fair to say they panell needs to start their winter strength and conditioning quickly ,
no point allowing them to get fat and spend next spring getting fit instead of hurling

Important to note that strenght and conditioning should not be just hitting a gym and bench pressing and dumbell curls. The top teams and not bulked up. They are lean. Dublin footballers learned a number of years ago that getting big was actually working against them and went the other way and wanted leaner players. Armagh a similar example. They have abandoned the get big approach and started to trim players down.

My biggest issue with alot of Offaly teams is they are not conditioned to cover ground. the "man behind the wire" made reference to this in the tribune a while back as a big problem with alot of the current Offaly county players.

At this time each year a big debate starts about S&C and it nearly becomes the sole issue Offaly teams are currently performing as dreadfully as they are. Its not. Intercounty is a massive commitment now. If lads are going to make themselves available then they have to work harder on both sport specific fitness and their SKILLS. Championship matches wont be won in a gym, they will be won on a field.

Plenty of endurance work needed over the winter months and then increase the anaerobic work later. Alot of lads need to trim down and definately not bulk up.
