SH Hurling Championship on a Thursday

Post by ceanneitigh »

Do the powers that be have any inkling of the sacrifices some of the players have to go through to try and play a midweek match . Imagine driving from Dublin after work, going straight to the hurling field. Playing the match and then having to drive back to Dublin to go to work the following morning. Some of the lads are trying to hold on to their jobs. (there aren't too many jobs available!!) But having to make sacrifices like this is bad planning and a complete lack of respect for the players and mentors by the fixtures committee.

Totally agree. Terrible fixing championship games for mid week. Whatever about training, lads working outside the county would be coming home most weekends anyway so games should be fixed for then ONLY.

We have seen some county players transfer clubs but its really unnecessary when games are fixed for weekends. I would argue that if they are willing to make the effort to travel for a county team then surely to god they can make what is alot less effort and time for their club team. Their is enough lads around who look after themselves and leave a struggling club for big name clubs elsewhere. Its a cop out. Therefore the county board should be doing all in their power to facilitate the real honest club men who make the effort to play for their club. But when did our county board ever do anything right.

Fairly bad alright, must be some reason behind it? Oh maybe its something to do with the Feile thats taking place and everybody is going to be out with the Sat navs trying out the google coordinates so they thought, "we better nake sure we keep our senior hurlers off the roads on Saturday as could be dangerous!"

Ah seriously, sure wont it be a great chance to take friday off and go for a few pints after the match with your mates!?
