Imagine the scenario.
It’s a championship opener in Tullamore and the ground is going to be heaving. The opposition could be Kilkenny or Wexford hurlers, Westmeath or Laois footballers, or whoever else.
You’ve been given the job of match day PA for the day as the regular announcer has laryngitis.
You’re told to announce any double parked cars, missing children and perhaps put on a song or two from the collection of old time waltz and ceili albums that are scattered around the room.
You close the door, turn the lock and sit down at the sound system.
What tunes would you rev the crowd up with?

Jaysus BNM man is at a loose end tonight
On a serious note the record of Amhrán na bhFiann played at OCP is a disgrace. I think it was the football game against Tipp last week it began to speed up and slow down then screeched to a halt. At the Wexford hurling game everybody stood up and it began to play 20 seconds in! I had a novelty keyring a few years back that played a portion of Amhrán na bhFiann and I could swear that its the same recording as the version played in Tullamore. Chirst its one of the most modern stadiums in the whole country and cost a lot of dosh so surely a couple of euros for a decent recording of our national anthem isn't too much to ask?

If the Dubs can get Jedward to sing at Croker, then I think we should do the same.
They'd be such a boost to our lads running out onto the field.
They're a sound pair of lads.

The second one you could use for games against most counties - you'd actually get the Fermanagh crowd going, they've been known to sing that with the lyrics "Fermanagh men!"Oceans 15 wrote:For Offaly Players.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLrrBs8JBQo

You'd need to get the crowds back in the door for this to make sense, but it definitely should be done for the championship home games for now. As for my own choices?
Offaly - Option 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4K6ZxDwi34 (The first few seconds before the team come out would build things up well)
- Option 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC_Z-EPSVaI (Again wait till the chorus before the team come out....)
- Option 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldf7T6Tl ... re=related (Slightly more Irish tinge to it...)
Opposition - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2sKH8yjVsM (Big shout out to chief wiggum for the suggestion....)
National Anthem? As if ye need ask.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwQbPgouUYo
Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.

In Dunnes Stores Cusack Park in Mullingar next Sunday the stadium soundtrack will sound like this...
Offaly take the field:
Attention shoppers. In our deli counter today we are offering half price kippers and wild smoked salmon. Dunnes Stores, the difference is we're Irish!
Westmeath take the field:
Staff call Padraig Dolan. Could Padraig Dolan come to the customer services desk please?
Please stand for the National anthem:
Why not try our brand new St Bernard range of ciders available in selected stores. Collect double Gift Card points with every purchase.
Westmeath fans go delirious
