ya brings back great memories of great weather,great crowd,great game(1st half) great performances in getting to the final, great players finishing up careers with offaly, great cop out by the ref, oh yeah and great session in the bird flanagans dat night. We havent seen 1 day like it with the footballers since? As the great GB said where did it all go wrong. lol

Yeah, the ref took the easy option in front of the Hill - which resembles an open prison when the Dubs are playing.

It was nothing to do with whether a "professional foul" rule exists or not in gaelic football. It was a case of one player running 20 metres to take an opponent out of it with no intention of playing the ball. If I ran at Sean Cavanagh and kicked him to the ground as he caught a kick out in midfield, I'd expect a red card.

What made it worse, Alan McNamee was later sent off for foul accumulation, a few pushes and jersey pulls.

Its hard to believe how much Offaly have gone backwards since. Less than a year later Offaly became a Division 4 team playing woeful stuff.
