Foul?

Post by stupid like a fox »

Hi lads,

In thr tyrone game at the weekend did Eoin Mulligan rehandle/show the ball? I know the ref didn't blow it up but I can recall refs blowing for this in the past, any views?

Great goal though.

You can switch the ball from hand to hand, once you don't throw it.

yes but when you show the ball in this fashion is it not deemed a foul? As a player over the years I have been blown up for this by refs, seems to me it’s a selective rule, it just depends on the ref.

It's like the imaginary "two turns" rule, it doesn't exist.
Once one hand maintains contact with the ball, you can switch all you want.

I don't think thats entirely correct Bord Na Mona. Reading the official guide you can indeed transfer from one hand to anotherso long as you dont throw the ball. But you can not transfer it back again unless you hop or toe tap first.

From the rule book;

(It is an offence)

4.10 (a) To change the ball from one hand to the other,
without the original holding hand maintaining
contact until the change is completed.
4.10 (b) To change the ball from one hand to the other
more than once, unless the ball is bounced or
toe-tapped between the changes.

He bounces the ball between the switches, so I don't think there's a foul there..........

In other news, I see Down are looking for a replay in the Christy Ring cup........first half was too short.
It'd be a shame if the precedent we set were to deny Wastemeath some glory
