Tipsters Comp - Round 11 Results

Post by Lone Shark »

Okay - first things first - an apology. I mistakenly posted Clareen as favourites in the Coolderry vs Seir Kieran game - a rather obvious error. Needless to say getting three points for tipping that game correctly would be excessive, so it's just one point, as it should be. For those who followed me blindly, all I can say is my sincere apologies, but there should be a lesson in there somewhere .....

Regarding the competition, Ballymanabroad, the Rat and myself all went down the card, scoring a maximum of 11. Seán Boyle Ó Rathallaigh had an uncharacteristic off week, scoring only five, and drops to third. True Red only matched that, while only Doon Massive out of the pack made any real push with ten.

59 Lone Shark
58 The Rat
57 Seán Boyle Ó Rathallaigh
49 True Red
46 Fullback, Minor
45 Sparklin, Flatcap
43 mykneehurts, HairyHole, Doon Massive
42 Bogman
41 Harperj
40 Ballymanabroad
39 Bord na Mona Man, Percy Sledgehammer
38 Hyper
36 Treasurer
35 putupthatscore, themanfromFerbane
26 The Biff
25 Juteman
24 Offalymanaway
22 Pool Shark, Rynaghs Biffo
17 Doobane Man
16 Barracuda, Mighty Pair O' Hands, Turk
11 Turfbag
7 Hocker
2 Laois GAA, Alan

But to the real GAA stuff - ignore the league, bring on the championship! The rules were the first 16 plus ties get into the next round, where we'll do the same again to decide the knckout pairings from quarter finals on. 13 people got 8 or better, so with five more having scored 7, it means that 18 players are still alive and kicking. As we said, it's week to week, so no scores carry - all 18 are now on an equal footing. Championship being the great leveller that it is, SBÓR, True Red, and Fullback all bite the dust at this early stage, defying league form.

Anyway, the 18 who will participate in round 2, to be announced the next weekend there are at least 4 games being played, are:

Ballymanabroad
Lone Shark
The Rat
Doon Massive
TheManFromFerbane
Rynaghs Biffo
Flatcap
Gaahead
The Biff
Sparklin
Hairyhole
Bogman
putupthatscore
Hocker
Mykneehurts
Doobane Man
harperj
minor

I suggest we have the Daithi Regan cup for those who were knocked out early.

Done and done.

The Daithi Regan Cup will be open to all outside the above 18. Same rules as well - next serious round of games, the top 8 will be put into knockout quarter finals.

The only thing now is a name for the senior competition - any ideas?

For the Senior Knockout comp, how about honouring one of the toughest men ever to wear the tricolour - the Paddy McCormack Cup.

Treasurer, as one of only two known members of the county board on here, you're lucky you're not handicapped for all the inside info you'd have.... :D

Honestly, you'd hardly expect me to post that up?

Anyway, I've no doubt they're all either watching or posting under some username or another, there's just the one that told me.....

As an aside, we also have one member of the Dublin county board - go figure. :) (And no, it's not me......)
