Best G.A.A aftermatch pub in the county

Ok lads... You've just played a hard 60 minutes on a big mucky, soggy, wet pitch, have a boiling hot/luke warm shower after the match, listen to a 20 minute rant and bollocking from the gaffer and suddenly the next topic is "where we meeting for a jar lads?"

Whats the best pub in the county to go for a jar to quench the thirst???

Martins of Doon?
Kileens of Shannonbridge?
Murtaghs of Cloghan?
Cahills of Belmont?
Hennessys of Ferbane?
Gavins of Ballycumber?

Any suggestions??

I'd say Gavins followed closely by Martins

Has to be Martins.

Hennessy's??????? I'm not a fan of most of the Ferbane pubs at the best of times, but I think I'd go into pretty much any of the others before I'd drop in there.......

Hennessy's was a very disappointing refurbishment.
They have that lovely front on it and then you go in and it's decorated into a 90s "irish style pub".

they could have left it the way it was and they'd have done well.
i was only in it once. some lad from ferbane had his mate over from birr. they were being drunken and abusive and roaring. then yer man's mammy came in to bring them home ha ha ha!!!

which pub in cloghan is murtaghs?

Martins of Doon followed by Killeens, sorry but I have to say I'm not a fan of drinkin in Fearbane but if I had to I'd hit the cosy bar.

The Cat and Bagpipes Tubber
The Auld Shebeen in Mo' - I know it's in Wastemeath, but we need to occasionally enter badlands to remind our neighbours of our superiority!

Good call.
I'd say some of the other lads would be too scared though!

Without doubt the greatest of them all was the Manor in Tullamore when Dalys owned it ( and this was some time ago) and Willie Nolan worked in it. Its disappointing to see that their is no worthwhile pub in Tullamore at present

My choice would be Gavins + Careys (even if there was never a match) & also the Blueball.

In fairness lads, I don't think you can beat Gavin's in Ballyc. There'll be some craic there now that they're in the SFC semi-finals. Towns like Tullamore and Clara are disappointing from a GAA pub point of view.

Surely you'd give our Lord Mayor a turn now and then??

Has to be Gavins of Ballycumber! Many a happy evening was spent there drinking orange and eating crisps whilst playing pool after a victorious afternoon in O'Connor park. Happy Memories!

I'd say Gav would be delighted with our endorsement. Get the chips and sausages on Rose.

I'd say Gavins too but I am slightly biased. I think the amount of teams who stop there after a match in Tullamore bears testament to its popularity. I always wondered if it was a psychological thing about crossing the river into west Offaly.
