Congrats to the cailíní. It has been a long time since we got a cup in coker. Fair play to them and well done to all concerned. I hope they enjoy the celebrations.

One thing that maybe should be mentioned is that Offaly camogie got to the All Ireland final, and won it AFTER the offaly senior camogie final has already been played. I wonder is there a lesson there

Great win for Offaly.
They were a step above Waterford in the skills department.

Waterford didn't have the touch and control required to play the short and sideways stuff.
Offaly were more direct and efficient with the ball.

After last year, this win will be especially sweet for Offaly.
Judging by Joachim Kelly's demeanour afterwards, you could tell it meant a hell of a lot to him.

Offaly All-Ireland camogie champions

Offaly go up to Intermediate grade for next year. Clare went up to Senior this year but I’ve a feeling that was because they already had an Intermediate side. The Junior team went up to Intermediate, and the Intermediate team went up to senior even though they didn’t win the Intermediate title. See this link:-
http://www.camogie.ie/CompetitionStruct ... fault.aspx

Looks like Offaly will be playing against the second teams from Cork, Kilkenny etc. next year.

Great win for the girls yesterday. They dominated the game and some of their play, especially the catching, was breathtaking. They were under immense pressure following last year’s agonising defeat, but that didn’t show in their play and they gave quite a performance.

My congratulations go to all the players and the management, and a great night was had by all in the County Arms last night.

No marks to RTE, who spent the entire match óchóning about poor Waterford.

Finally, could someone change the thread title to something a bit more dignifying than ‘chicks with sticks’ please?

Well done to all concerned.

As for future prospects at a higher grade, i think (on yesterdays performance) that the backs and midfield should be well able for it, the forwards might find it tough.

Good to see the offaly jersey's in croker!

out of curiousity i googled 'chicks with sticks' and didnt find any reference to slight against women ,in fact the term is used frequently in womens social , charitable and solidarity groups throughout the world so i would be interested to find out from any camogie players if the term is actually offensive or complimentary :? :? :?

100% agree. That got really annoying near the end. You'd swear they were the better team and were robbed by a poor refereeing decision!

Disagree. I think you'd have to go a long way to find one of girls that would be offended by this. In fact, any camogie player I've ever met played up to this kinda stuff!! I think it's political correctness gone too far to be worrying about this kind of thing.
