Offaly Hurlers on the Beer?

Post by Bogman »

Did anybody see the story in the Indo about McIntyre keeping the Offaly players in the dressing room after the Waterford match for 25 minutes!! Eavesdroppers were quoted as saying that "drink proved the solace for some of the troops after the Cats' licking, something which annoyed McIntyre whose frustration was clearly audible".

I don't want to make a big deal over this because the Kilkenny hammering was the best excuse ever to go on the lash! Still it is unusual for a national newspaper to be passing on such a report. It'll revive our laid-back reputation that the 90's boys built up.

Sounds a bit strange? Why would a national broadsheet bother to report that?
It must have been tough to come out in Carlow and face Waterford just days after the KK hammering, the players deserve some credit for coming out at all. Its such a pity that the Dublin match isn't next, it would have allowed more time to build-up for the Clare game. Instead they have to play Clare in a "home" game in Portlaoise.

What is the capicity of Birr anyway? What was the point on building a new stand and all there if it can't be used when we need it?

I think it's in or around 5-6000. Some county alright. They demolish a stand in Tullamore before they have a builder chosen for the new one.
