where was the fortal club, that won the offaly hurling in 1898? does anyone know?

i think its between birr and clareen somewhere. ive seen a few addresses which are fortal, birr anyway.

Yeah, they drew their players from Birr and Clareen. This was before the introduction of the parish rule, so fellas were sort of free to roam. Many from Lusmagh would have played with Meelick (in Galway) about this time.
