Apart from that one report from Pat Nolan there was nothing more said about it. How in touch he is with the inner going ons i can’t speak on, but didn’t see it mentioned anywhere else.

A sort of a form guide

Belmont v Shinrone is almost an annual event at this stage, having met each year 2016 – 2020 inclusive. Shinrone won in 2016, Belmont in ’17, Shinrone in ’18, Belmont by a point in ’19 and Belmont again in 2020.

Coolderry and Seir Kieran have also met five times in the last six years, with 2019 the odd year out. Coolderry won by two points in 2016, the Clareen men won 2017’s quarter-final 1-23 to 3-15, while Coolderry won in 2018 (by three points), 2020 (two points) and last year (two points again).

Birr and Kinnitty have also played each other five times since 2016. Birr enjoyed a 1-17 to 1-11 win in 2016’s first round, and did likewise when they met in the semi-final later in the year. Kinnitty turned the tables with a 2-19 to 1-15 win a year later, before the sides ended on level terms in 2018 and in 2019.

The last five clashes of St Rynagh’s and Kilcormac-Killoughey are compressed into the last four years with St Rynagh’s winning the most recent four. K-K won 2018’s semi-final 1-16 to 1-11, St Rynagh’s won 2019’s round two by 2-12 to 1-13, the 2020 Final was won by St Rynagh’s 1-19 to 1-13, St Rynagh’s won last year’s group game 2-24 to 0-21, before edgeing last year’s semi-final 1-18 to 0-20.

Word from Banagher is both O Connor and Treacy still out of the country this weekend as they were for Kinnity game and others missing through injury, so all doesn't seem well there. Hughes who has been injured supposed to emigrating to Australia soon to apparently. Hard to see past KK this weekend, Belmont and Shinrone hard to call.

Yeah I suppose they'll be back for knockout stages.

Great to have that luxury I suppose

Junior B Championship
Crinkill 3-21 Clara 0-05. Crinkill top the group with 5 wins. Semi final in 4 weeks. St Rynaghs also in semi final after topping their group. Quarter final pairings will be decided this weekend

Is it not 4 quater finals in junior B championship? 3 groups meaning top 3 in group 1 and group 2 along with the top 2 in group 3 to make 8??
Could be wrong but always believed that was the format from the start.

Was in O'connor Park this evening.
Very lack lustre from both teams.
Felt like a challenge match.

Anyone know the knockout pairings after today??

Birr v Ballinamere/Durrow
Shinrone v St.Rynaghs

Belmont and K/K go through to semi finals.

No. 5 teams in group 1 & 2. 4 teams in group 3. Winners of group 1 & 2 into semi final. Second in group 1 & 2 along with 1st & 2nd in group 3 into quarter final.

Nothing simple about that for Ballinamere

Is it common consensus that broadly speaking we run a fairly poor championship? That the standard of hurling is generally pretty poor?

Most definitely the case today.

The Ballinamere v Shinrone game was the best game I seen this year. Both teams going flat out

Just seems that a common theme across any written reports ive come across is that the fare is pretty poor.

Won’t be said outright but a lot of ‘honest hurling’type comments that you’d probably read with a slightly negative perspective if looking at it from a quality perspective.

Good win for Belmont this evening though Shinrone were very poor. Belmont once more are one game away from that elusive county final. Great to see Oisin back. He got a tremendous reception from the crowd when introduced in the second half.

I assume the semifinals are planned so as say there won't be any teams from the same group meeting prior to the final, but I don't think that's fully possible.. if Shinrone say beat Rynaghs they couldn't meet Belmont, and if Birr beat Ballinamere they can't play Kilcormac/K..is it possible for every scenario to be avoided I am wondering..i don't think it is..
