There was a mention of a free when an Offaly player strayed into (?) his own half to interept/collect possession.
Was the free given from that spot or brought to the 20 line---- In the programme from Croke Park on Sunday it is clear any such free is
"on the point where the player crossed the halfway line "
The free was close range. The rule must be saying that distance from the sideline of the free will be the same as where the player crossed over.

So the ref got it very wrong and it was the difference in the end====== Then Ulster refs doing Ulster teams has a long history===========

I assume people have seen the team named yesterday. Same as last week which I’ve no issue with, just want more players off the bench tomorrow.
In other news, Sligo have done us a favour. Could have won the game but still means that Fermanagh have dropped a point. Laois got a win also which ends Antrim’s chances. Sligo are fighting for survival so hopefully they get something from Clare next week.

Was in Castlebar today. A Kerry player (forget who) and Aidan O'Shea both went for a ball in a similar situation, they were part of the "three up" for their respective teams, and while AOS remembered and stopped himself, the Kerry lad grabbed the ball in the opposite half. Free on halfway.
These things will happen, they're new rules and I didn't know it until it was brought up on here, but it is frustrating when the consequences of it could be significant.
The other side of the coin is that it's now once more looking like we'll need to beat Leitrim tomorrow and then win one of our other two games. And if we're not able to beat at least one of them, then once again you'd have to conclude that Division Three is the right Division for us.

Nice of Sligo to put a dent in Fermanagh. It's a still a regret that Offaly lost to Fermanagh. The cat would be almost in the sack, if we had beaten them.

We still need to beat Clare and would still have had to beat them even if we had beaten Fermanagh.

Probably - but Clare have a tough run in, it's far from certain that they'll be still in the promotion mix come the last day. Sligo will need points to stay out of relegation, they still have to play Kildare tomorrow, and they still have to go to Portlaoise now that Laois are finding a bit of form. If you ask me who's the second best team in the Division I'd give Clare as the answer, but it's absolutely not a gimme that they win two out of those three matches.

A win against Leitrim and draw against Clare should be enough to see us promoted.
Both the footballers and hurlers are in the same position, 3 points would likely do it but 4 to be certain.

Its a simple scenario now it seems, a win today and a win in Clare will be the targets, We are not good enough to handle Kildare especially with the injuries we have. and are unlikely to have them back for the last 2 games.
Anyone saying a draw will do is using soccer parlance as you cant play for a draw in GAA, (well unless both parties agree to it).
Agree with Lone Shark, if we cannot beat Clare we are probably as well off in Div 3 where we will get socks of it next year if as looks likely Westmeath and possibly Down are relegated
But you always strive to pay the grade above and we will be kicking ourselves if we dont get promoted. I also agree that Clare will have their hands full with their remaining games and will drop more points before we meet them.
As was said, our first 2 fixtures worked out perfect and Laois and Sligo are a different prospect now!

You can see in the table above what’s left to happen. Maximum us and Clare can get is 12 points, but both of us play each other in the final game. Fermanagh and Laois can get 9 and 10 points respectively but have to play each other. Clare and Laois also to play each other so someone will drop points.
We still absolutely have it in our own hands. Clare to me seem our biggest problem considering they have the fixtures, but there’s no easy win against Sligo. Kildare hopefully will beat them today. Laois also essentially have a mini group with Clare and Fermanagh so all could take points off each other which is what we want. I think there’s a reasonable chance Clare could have dropped 2-4 points by the time we play them. Let’s hope we’ve only dropped 2 or even better 1 point against Kildare.
3 points should almost be enough. Up the Faithful

Looking at this, I think you're right. If we beat Clare and Leitrim, we go up.

As far as I can see - a win against either Kildare or Clare would send us up.

if we beat one or other of Clare or Kildare, we will have one of them on head to head and only Laois can also get to 10pts but have to play Clare so one or both of Laois or Clare will drop more points yet so their game v Clare is important for us now.
However if we beat Kildare and lose to Clare itll likely be 3 teams on 10pts and score diff enters equation. Kildare will be through on minimum of 2nd place with one more win irrespective id imagine with their superior score difference. Great excitement going to last few games and it is great we are in contention.
Well done to lads today. Difficult mentally to deal with expectation around that but we got the win. Move on now. Clare beating Kildare really opens it up now and that was a surprise but should help us have a bit of motivation to have a cut at Kildare now.

Updated fixtures for teams aiming for promotion
Clare beat Kildare in Cusack Park today, upsetting the Kildare drive for promotion. They visit Tullamore the next day, looking for maximum points.
It could all come down to the last day, Offaly are away to Clare.
