On the issue of the clash between the Kinnitty and Coolderry jersies I'd just like to clear somethng up. On the request of the county board both clubs purchased a set of "away" jersies. Coolderry's are a reversal of their normal ones as they are white with green trim while our "away" set are green and white hoops. These jersies were approved by the county board and were agreed upon to be worn by both teams in any championship clash between both sides. The issue in last years semi was that the referee decided that the jersies were too similiar (which they are definitley not!) and ordered the teams into the home and away offaly jersies which was even more confusing. So simply putting it the referee was the fault of last years farce rather than either club who had abided by the county boards wishes.

Fair enough. However few can argue that both clubs away strips still bear a striking familiarity to their normal kits. I mean honestly, the above description of your away jersey sounds exactly like your home jersey which is two green bands and one white one. While Coolderry going from green mainly + white to white mainly + green is hardly earth shattering. So you can see where the problem lies.

Not unlike Manchester United or Arsenal, clubs away jerseys should be completly different to their home kits. Make them black, blue, cyan, whatever, just leave no room for ambiguity.

Coolderry's is a bit different to their usual jersey, but kinnitty's is not an away jersey it's another version of the home jersey!

Exactly - surely the point of away jerseys is to have them in case of a substantial clash. Play in them in a few league games just to get used to them, and then you have it covered in case it ever comes up.

There are a lot of clubs in the Offaly SHC whose primary colour is green - five by my count - while you have clubs like Ballinamere, Killavilla, and the second string of several of the senior clubs playing intermediate. If you're going to pay for a second strip, then surely it would be worth making a substantive change?
