A sickener to lose in the end but the overall performance was exceptional and we can all be very proud. If that match was played two years ago or even last year, Dublin would have won by 10+ pulling up. The rate of improvement is incredible really.

Let today’s result show the players that they can compete at this level.

Massively encouraging display today.
Offaly did a huge amount well. Our first Leinster game in 7 years and it could have gone either way.
Dublin were hard to put away. Offaly had periods on top, but didn't to pull ahead enough.
A lot of Dublin's gameplan didn't work for them, but they stuck with it and it eventually paid off.
The game swung on the late goal, but Dublin had hit a series of wides beforehand which was an ominous.

Offaly will take a lot for this game. Bar Kilkenny, the other teams in Leinster are at a standstill, or going backwards.
This was a better Offaly performance than against the same opposition in Feb. As well flagged up beforehand, it was on a narrow Parnell Park, suiting Dublin.
Add to that, they left nothing to chance and left the grass very long too - shades of Big Jack having Lansdowne Road a meadow for Spain in 1989.

There's plenty to work on too. The tackling was occasionally off, with some obvious drag backs in view of the ref. And when Dublin ran it down the middle, Offaly were caught for numbers and/or pace. These are fixable on the training ground and with further top level exposure.
If we had poor hurlers, I'd be more worried!

So much to be proud of in Parnell Park this evening, the lads gave it absolutely everything. It was a massive learning curve for the team - a hostile atmosphere, last year's Leinster finalists, a young offaly team playing a game at this level for the first time (for the most part)...and we nearly did it.

I was so proud of the Offaly boys tonight. I'm not going to pick holes in anything from a performance perspective, as they really died with their boots on to a man.

We absolutely MUST pack out O'Connor Park next weekend and create that 16th man atmosphere to hop off Galway. It's what got the Dubs over the line tonight.
Galway won't be looking forward to playing us after their shambles of a performance today.

Esto Fidelis. The boys absolutely deserve it

Immensely proud of the lads last night. The work rate, commitment and skill were exemplary.’Going into Dublin’s back yard, against a seasoned side and last years Leinster finalists and to feel sickened leaving the ground having come up just short shows just far we’ve come in such a short space of time.

We have a brilliant opportunity to get ourselves back on track next weekend at home in O’Connor Park. If we could manage to win there and then look to target Wexford away and Antrim at home we’d still stand a very good chance of coming out of Leinster, but that’ll all be determined in time.

Let’s make sure that we drum up every ounce of support we can to pack out OCP next Saturday and get the lads over the line, influence as many 50/50 calls as we can and make sure we push on the lads. These lads deserve nothing less than the same level of support that our U20’s have gathered over the past few years.

Onwards and steadily upwards.

Had a look at the Galway forum for the craic, it's mad to think that they are so pessimistic about beating offaly next weekend and they are having a right go at players and management 😁

I'd expect a large crowd in OCP next weekend and I think we will.

These players deserve it and we know we can get a huge following as seen at underage the last few years.

Galway are probably as vulnerable now as their ever been so we are within a fantastic chance of causing an upset if we go in with the same attitude and motivation as yesterday.

Whilst obviously very disappointed to lose I was very proud of our performance yesterday evening. Decent Offaly crowd got behind the team and the close proximity to the pitch made it a great atmosphere.

Ultimately we couldn’t handle their direct running down the centre in those last 5-10 minutes. Not to mention their wides which really kept us in the game.

Some brilliant individual performances from Oisin in particular with Brian Duignan, Dan Rav, Shirley and thought Ciaran Burke was very good at full back.

Can’t wait for Galway to come to Tullamore next Saturday. I’m not for a second saying we should be favourites or lose the run out of ourselves but we can be very confident of a strong performance and a win wouldn’t be off the charts either.

They did plenty of shouting about the ref though. Offaly got a couple of questionable ones at stages but they were howling at even the most blatant of fouls being pinged.
Parnell Park would have run out of defibrillators if Murphy bothered to blow for thrown balls and over carries.

I have to agree I was disappointed with the support we brought. We have been crying out for a team to get behind for 20 years and now we have one and people won't bother to drive 1 hour to see them.
