They have reached their target for the year. Its a long tine since they returned to training in November, so if they wanted a few days off fair play to them. They all have lives outside of the GAA. Have you had any holidays since the end of October? Next week the club managers will start calling on them.
Its a folly by the GAA having these preliminary quarter finals in all honesty, and this just proves it really
So would you have been OK if Johnny Kelly and his management team went on holidays this week and missed the All Ireland Hurling Preliminary 1/4 final?
Let's say if he said he'd reached his target and wanted "a few days to himself".
Would you say "fair play to him"?
Johnny Kelly snd Co. wont be turning around next week to start preparing for a club campaign.
Johnny Kelly double jobs. He is manager of Nenagh Eire Og in the Tipperary SHC. Which clearly means he won't be getting to many Offaly SHC games to try and scout new talent.

All of which is his prerogative of course.

Although in 2025 I would presume it would be impossible for a manager of a team who are competing in the Leinster SHC to also be the manager of a senior club team. I'm sure that will get ironed out in ample time.

Fully focused for Cork that’s the way I’d see it, have a bit of ambition, nothing to lose go out rattle them as much as possible.
Yes it’s a huge ask with the quick turn around and celebrations but these games might not come around to often grasp it while we can, we are one of just a hand full of counties left in the All Ireland series.
I fully expect Laois to be hurting badly and they very well could cause an upset against Wexford, I am aware Cork are a top 3/4 team but are we going just let them roll over us again. It’s a massive challenge but isn’t this where we want to get to.

Offaly haven’t yet named a team on social media from what I can see, but Offaly Independent are reporting that Ross Ravenhill & Oisin Kelly come in for Eimhin Kelly & Adam Screeney.

They say that Screeney isn’t on the 26.

Wouldnt be suprised. Have to be careful with the u20s. These lads are just barely turned 19 years of age and I make it this would be the 6th week in a row playing knockout championship. Thats tough going physically and mentally.

In reference to Screeney, he covered alot of ground last week that people dont mention. Alot of selfless running putting pressure on the extra laois man at the back. It may not get noted as much but in many ways he was given a "tommy coyne" role of chasing down balls solo against multiple laois backs. Same goes for Bourke. he covered alot of ground again and you could see his legs were gone the last ball he got. And these lads are use to 60 minutes not 70 minutes.

Would love to see our lads up in the face of these Cork lads. Lads emptying the tank and Kelly using all his subs. The shackles are off now, nobody gives them any chance but what I'm hoping is we can keep the scoreboard ticking.

Worryingly Cork have scored an average of 35 points over their 4 Munster Championship matches.

On the flip side Cork have conceded an average of 31.25 points over the same 4 matches.

If Offaly can get anywhere near that 30 point haul I think we would all be delighted!!

Going to be a tough one tomorrow and the rain is forecast so hopefully it will be better than last year's wetting
We will concede alot of scores but that's
How it is .
Not too sure how the players will deal with
It but true characters will come through.
It's been an brilliant season the league was
Poor but gradually we improved every
Game if we could only get our midfield on an even keel and stop the defence going walkies we would be a different animal
Let's enjoy our day in the rain
👍🤞

One of the players told me today that the lads had changed their flights and full squad available so ‘if I’m telling lies I was told lies’…….

Fair play to the lads really threw everything at Cork in what was really bonus territory after our years objectives had already been achieved.

If we had taken another goal chance or two we could of been in dreamland.

Well done lads pride has really really been restored in the Jersey and looking forward to 2025 already 🟢⚪️🟡

Jesys the ref really favoured Cork got some very dubious frees

Great year for offaly hurling some brilliant commitment. Dan Bourke underage player of the year potentially

There wasn't a blade grass he didn't cover

The last 2 week's at senoir underage and the senoir lads stepping up to the mark was something else

Laois were well on top but they kept digging in tackle after tackle and got what they deserved in the end the same for under 20 kk jut a purple patch and dublin even tipp had a bit of one but again working so hard to close down the man and space find a way to win it

To produce that level of performance coming off the back of winning an U20 All Ireland and the Joe Mc Donagh final, with some of our lads on the go for 5/6 weeks is nothing short of heroic.

Coming down the stretch today we were a width of a hurl away and a terrible referring decision away from really rattling Cork. I want to focus on the positives, and the only negative from todays game was Sean Stacks referring, which was sickening at times.

In Dan Burke we have the most intelligent hurler in the country. To boss a game as he did after two outstanding performances the past two weekends was a sight to behold. But, he wasn’t alone in his efforts, with Cathal King, Donal Shirley and Oisin Kelly all leading the fight as well.

Bring on the Leinster Championship next season. I fully believe we’ll push on and retain our senior status, potentially even exceeding such expectations. Our time will come, and by God we’re going to be some force in 4/5 years time.

We’re back! Uíbh Fhailí Abú.

GET THOSE BOYS ON A TEAM HOLIDAY🟢⚪️🟡

I was happier with the approach today than I was with the set up last week. Offaly had some nice patterns of play when in possession and defended well as a unit when cork had it.
I am delighted that they showed plenty of pride and a level of self confidence to not allow cork away with pricking around trying to create goal chances. Good on Offaly players for stepping up today, getting the tackles in, throwing in big hits, and backing a player up,

I feel that this game will be a big confidence boost ahead of next year. It showed that we can compete and that we do belong playing at this level. Clear progress was made this year. Need the same progression again next year and we’ll be happy with that.

Very disappointed with the support that showed up, a sea of red covered O Connor Park.
The players were outstanding, all the talk was Cork would win by 30 points +, their supporters were very quiet, when there was only 4/5 points in it at one stage we were absolutely robbed of a free for a push on the back and Cork come down and get a goal.
Horgan diving for frees we could’nt lay a finger on him or a free was given.
Kelly showed very well and could have had two more goals, massive effort from all involved and a great year all round, today we showed a bit of belief and heart, if we had an extra week to rest and prepare who knows we could have got closer
