Had the Furlong chance been scored, then it's a very different game. Though that doesn't mean Offaly would have won it.
Westmeath just wouldn't have had a lead they could roost on for the second half.

It's going to take a couple of more games for Offaly to get motoring. In the middle eight, Carroll, Donoghue, Flynn, Cunningham, have all had injuries, absences, or some form of disruption in the past year. On Sunday Jack McEvoy and Dylan Hyland were suspended, on top of the backline shuffling with Declan Hogan out.

Take Cian Farrell for example, after a serious injury, he is now starting to come back to his 2021 form. It doesn't happen straight away. Sunday felt a step too far in terms of expecting a lot of things to click straight away.

Next up it's Antrim, who Offaly usually manage to squeak results against. Offaly have a 100% win record in Corrigan Park, though last year it was a lot tighter than the 6 point margin.

This year is a different kettle of fish the wind
Last year was really bad .
I'm going in hope more than expectation.
There was no urgency against Westmeath

To even try to close the game
Other countries have spotted that.
Antrim gave Limerick a good beating.
Hope springs eternal 👍

Anybody there with any thoughts. Coverage on 103 was very poor to say the least. Very little info from the game on local radio.

As person at the game
44 hand pases in a row
Absolutely no structures
We should have won
Enough said
Kelly is not inter county enough said

Turned on mid r3 when I got into car in Tullamore. OffLy game was still playing in Antrim with one point in it whereas Westmeath game was over but yet they spent a good 5-6 minutes talking about Westmeath game before they gave final score in Antrim.

speaks volumes of our loss to Antrim, not a breath puffed on here in any meaningful way about it..we are where we are as the saying goes..

very true. If previous managers had got that result, there would've been more questions. Maybe it is acceptance of where we are or else people are slow to go in hard on a 'developing team' and local manager. Not sure what the mood is in the camp but it is always going to be hard with 2 losses from 2. Need at least a draw the next day to give ourselves a chance. 3 from 3 would see us as very likely heading for the basement.

On my way to Wexford for the hurling
But to say the silence after the last two games was very unusual.
I think the common sense people have figured out we have been sold a pig in a poke..
Lowry's cash has polished a turd! of a system
I'm dreading tonight.
Have a good weekend everyone.👍.

Hans you could do us and yourself a favour before posting on this forum and let someone proof read that sh!te you come out with

The effects of this administration can already be felt. It would be interesting to see how many finals across every grade school intercounty etc, an offaly team has competed in. This week alone we’ve had an offaly team in both a hurling and football schools final. Winning finals is nice and should be encouraged, but fundamentally at this age group if your getting to finals and at worst being competitive in them, it shows your doing something right. We are a small county with limited resources in both personnel and finances. We do not by virtue of our history have any right to any success. The wheel is turning slowly and I for one have no issue with what Declan Kelly is trying to do with the footballers. Someone had to introduce our young talent and anyone that thought they were simply going to overrun fully grown adult men who have been exposed to intercounty s&c and tactics for the best part of a decade should give their head a wobble.

Lowrys money is going in the right places. We’re getting lads on fitzgibbon and sigerson teams. There was a time you’d think there were no 3rd level offaly students. We are coming from a low ebb and it’ll take multiple decent competitive schools and underage teams before it translates to senior success. Even then you have to rationalise what success will look like to a county like offaly. For all the talk of monaghan, they only compete in one code and their hurlers struggled to beat a lancashire team last year that was only thrown together with lads who would have very little experience of playing or training together.

Good luck to all teams competing this weekend and thank you for representing your county for such little reward.
