Brilliant win last night, there is a real sense of purpose with these young men, management has a lot to do with this as well.

Would Carlow turn many off from going?

It likely will turn some off from going, it’s a school night with a throw in of 7:30, will end up hurting the children who’d be dying to go the most. It’s also a fairly tight turnaround for people who work until 5:30 or so, might be why they’re confident Cullen Park’s capacity will be sufficient.

And no concession for kids in the stand. €15 tickets only in the stand. Kids €2 but have to go to terrace.

In all fairness, I suppose they never expected Offaly to make the final.

Still, better not to make too much of an issue, just get on with it now.

Match to be won.

Its not a great venue in particular if poor weather is forecast with a very limited stand. Terraces are fine for adults and teens, but this will definitely turn off a lot of families attending as the small kids would see little of the action if there is going to be a big attedance. Likewise for the elderly as there are so few seats at the venue.

Back to the match a few observations, i have to admit i was worried after the first few minutes of both the first and second half, Dublin seemed a much different team powerfully and their ability to pass the ball and break tackles, took a few minutes before we got going properly, the goal was a bit of a blow and being honest i didn't think a 5 point lead at half time was going to be sufficient. Our goal after half time settled us as Dublin came out firing after half time and we had hit some bad wides.

We all know Dan is a great hurler and he helped the team significantly in the second half, think he made the catch before passing to Egan on the run for the goal. With these 3 lads back next week hopefully it is a great headache for Leo and management to have. Sam Bourke and Charlie Mitchell were the two stand out players but couldnt fault anyone with effort.

Overall the inside forwards were sluggish compared to the Galway game, there was often two defenders and the one forward going for the ball but we did send in some great balls when the game opened up at the end and got our reward.

I thought Ter Guinan could have come off a few minutes before, he had cramped up at that stage and the sub was ready and warmed up, even from last year seems to be an ongoing issue but hopefully will improve each year.

Great idea from Glenisk and at a time when there is a lot of negativity from GaaGo etc rewarding children with free gifts was a nice touch, seems like a great sponsor and seeing the pitch at half time full promotes the game and the future within.

May be jumping ahead but what a day if they beat Wexford and we have a double header in Croker with the U20s and the Joe McDonagh (maybe not for Charlie Mitchell) however.

Finally to the county board, getting the foundations right and coaching was key and who would have thought we would have reached Leinster minor and AI finals in one year and an u20 final the year after, its not just the minors from last year who have contributed but every squad member to coaches and trainers from their clubs. For a small county we are a mighty proud one.
