LAOIS V OFFALY (FORECAST)

Post by naasmanxrhode »

Hopefully this match will have a happier outcome for us. It will be interesting to see who is appointed as referee. A strong experienced referee is required, not another Marty Duffy.

On to the match, it will be a close game as with all these local derbies. Again if we are to progress to a quater final spot with Mayo, we need goals and at least 2. So here goes

Offaly 3 - 10 Laois 1 - 12

I reckon that if we lose to Laois then it will be a major blow to Offaly because we'll back to square 1. Laois aren't any great shakes & if we should have no fear playing them. It depends how much losing Leinster has taken out of the lads, but I'm hoping that they can lift it & put the pride back in the jersey.

Offaly 1-12
Laois 0-12

If I was to predict based upon the "informed opinions" of my Laois work colleagues then it would be something like

Laois 2-14
Offaly1-10

They seriously believe that Offaly have little chance. Not only that, but that they will beat Mayo easy also and that only Dublin stand in their way of an All - Ireland final appearance !

I'm a stubborn BIFFO and I reckon it will be a real 50:50 shot.
Key to this is whether Offaly play Mark Daly on Tom Kelly again because he cleaned Kelly out 2 years ago in Croker.

I go for Offaly by 2 points after extra time !

Offaly 1-17
Laois 0-18

offaly will have to be seriously motivated for this one and to tell you the truth i dont think they are.getting revved up for the qualifiers has never been our strong point and with laois having beaten tyrone&meath its going to be an enormous task.however if we can win enough possesion in midfield we'l have a great chance

OFFALY 1-10
LAOIS 1-9

The Head and the Heart

Post by The Biff »

Some of you know the song, although you might not admit it; Chris de Burgh - ".... It's the classical dilemma, between the Head and the Heart"

I wont try to put an exact score on it; rather I'll take the easy approach:

The Head says: Laois by 3 or 4 points.
The Heart says: Offaly by 2 points.

And the Heart wins. :D

Frees are gonna be crucial. so Mcmanus needs to cop on and let someone else have a go. The man need to realise that he cant do it on his own, dont get me wrong I think hes playin well this year and has got stuck in a lot more but his free taking is still woeful.
Pascal springs to mind, I seen him score an unbelievable point against laois a few years ago from a sideline ball. the angle was impossible. Hes a man who loves pressure
Why not give him a chance at the short ones. And let kelly come up and hit the longer ones (sounds insane , I agree but hey now is the time for gambles and plus he does have the accuracy and length once he wakes up.
If we arent up to scratch on sunday we could be out of the championship.
