Yeah supposed to be between Clonmore Harps and Lusmagh. I asked if it took place, someone suggested that Clonmore mightn’t be able to field a team this year. Hope they are able to field.

With KK returning, there is talk of expanding the junior football championship. 12 teams I heard.
Would be two groups of six I’d imagine.(would seem logical)
Then you’ve the question of whether Birr will have a team, etc.

What teams would there be?
Kilclonfert
Clodiagh Gaels
Ballyfore (junior b champions)
Rhode (relegated from intermediate)
Lusmagh
Clonmore Harps
Birr
Durrow
Ballinagar
Edenderry
Clara
Tubber (junior b runners up) or KK
Good Luck

if Clodiagh Gaels give it a real shot at the football and the hurling doesn't impact too much, they will take stopping.
Clara weren't far off the mark in this last year either.

Clodiagh Gaels play Kilclonfert away on Saturday evening @6 pm. Local derby with Ballinagar, and meet old rivals Clonmore Harps, always an intriguing game. Lusmagh gave us a fright last year, before a few late scores got Gaels a narrow win.

Clodiagh Gaels are in Senior B hurling in 2018, most of the team play both hurling and football. It can be hard to keep both codes strong. I personally feel the best chance of success will be in football, and a junior championship title is winnable. Last year's final was a disappointment, all 6 points from play was a poor return on the day.

Clara, Edenderry, Rhode, Harps, Gaels for the wins here. As ever a very open championship.
If the likes of Clara/Rhode/Edenderry can hold onto enough players not lost to senior teams and if Birr/Lusmagh/Gaels get enough footballers not focused on hurling, these will de deciding factors. Interesting.

This season has been very interesting indeed for the reasons you mentioned. I was expecting more players to be promoted to senior teams, but a strong competition like this may be even better for their development overall.

I see that Lusmagh gave Clonmore a walkover. Do Lusmagh intend on fielding a team?
I heard murmurs at the start of the year that they weren’t going to field a football team, and that any player that wanted to play with the big ball could do so with Rynaghs

Clodiagh Gaels and Kilclonfert drew 2-6 to 1-9. Wind was a big factor in game, Kil were 1-8 to 0-2 ahead at ht, scored 1 point in second half. Gaels scored 2-4, and led until a late pointed free for Kil got them a draw.

I had heard Lusmagh planned on fielding a team, but hadn't the numbers on the day to travel.. Anyways with Offaly senior hurling management now seeming to decide who plays in their club hurling matches, what hope have they got?
