We just need to go out and hurl, I hope we don’t set up defensive. Hopefully we have a full fit squad and we can go out and give it a lash

I think everyone's expectations will be the same. This is where we are looking for a performance.

Not in minimising the score loss but more in an increase in physicality and going for it. I think Martin will do this.

Players that where rested last Sunday will be all back in..

Can see ateam like this:

Cahill
Spain
Gardiner
Coneelly
O'Toole
Camon
King
T. Gerathy
Kinsella
Colin Egan
Kiely
Mahon
Currams
Bergin
Dooley

Can’t really argue with that as strong as we have really. We need big return from full forward line, a start for Dooley who we will need to up his work rate , best of luck lads .

What are the chances of this fixture falling foul of the weather?

There is a possibility. Met Eireann's outlook for Sunday is for "sleet and snow showers becoming more widespread for a time with some further accumulations."

Two changes on the Offaly team from that which beat Leix, with Shortt and Kinsella replacing Delaney and Geraghty respectively. Looks like they are going for size and strength, which you couldn't argue with, really.

I'd like to see the formation with four half-forwards (Egan, Kiely, Mahon and Currams), with space for Bergin and Dooley inside. Particularly on Offaly's own puckout. It just allows an additional man to get to the breakdown quicker. It leaves the two lads inside, faced by two defenders. No opposition sweeper, as the fourth half-forward cannot be left attended.

It's three weeks now since the Leix match, a long time since this Offaly team played together. And if Sunday's quarter-final falls foul of the weather, another week will have passed.

One thought on the Antrim match - no surprise Antrim won, as it effectively was Offaly's Junior team playing Antrim's Senior team. And once it was announced that Neil McManus was going to start (and wasn't crossing the rope bridge or checking out the Giant's Causeway), it was evident that Antrim were there on business. Antrim have announced one change to the starting team for their relegation match with Leix (goalscorer Nigel Elliott is recalled), a measure of what they consider their best team - that propensity to announce dummy teams aside. I didn't expect Offaly to be level with five minutes remaining, and a little bit more character would have gotten Offaly over the line. Sunday's news from Dunloy will be interesting.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Good luck to the hurlers and footballers tomorrow.

Hoping for a spirited performance that pushes the Cats as far as possible. Nothing to lose, let's go get 'em.

On an unrelated note hoping Seton Hall put it up to Kansas tonight. Angel, Khadeen, Desi, Ismael, Michael, local lad Myles Powell and the rest playing to their considerable potential will be a seerious handful. It's win or go home tonight. Only the best will be good enough.

UP OFFALY, LET'S GO PIRATES!!!!'

Match should be moved to Birr or one of them anyway.

Today it wasn't able to hold one game tomorrow a double header ridiculous.

Why?
We’re all not as backward as the people of Birr  . The vast majority of people want to see both games.
It wasn’t able to hold the game because the pitch was frozen, with a coat of snow I presume.

Just as I’m typing this, both games going ahead today.

What an effort , fair fucking play to the lads. In the end we made some silly mistakes that cost us , the ref didn’t make things easy for us especially in the first half.

In addition to the heart and courage to keep coming back at Kilkenny, Offaly played some brilliant hurling and if Kilkenny got some of the scores we got, the media would be raving about them.

Some fantastic individual displays none less than Ben Conneelly but even the subs that came in played their part. Bergin was immense also.

I know it’s another moral victory but I think we’ll all take it at this stage and hope we keep the momentum going. On a side note, it was fantastic to see the crowd get behind the team in the closing stages when the game was in the melting pot.

Remember folks this is the Offaly team that the GAA want to relegate out of the Championship in 12 weeks time. Just when there are genuine signs of progress it could be all over in 12 weeks time and the county will no longer be part of the Leinster Chanpionship. What a fucking disgrace this is. The only hope is to win one of the group games most likely against Dublin (as they'll likely be beaten by the others as well) and let them be relegated instead. There will be uproar then.....there will be no uproar if it's Offaly.
Today was brilliant. Can't remember an atmosphere like it in recent years....the last ten minutes made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Every one of them emptied the tank in fairness. Ben Connelly is putting on exhibitions of defending and today was just fantastic to watch. In the end it came down to small margins really. Reid was 9 from 9 on frees, Dooley was 5 from 7. John Donnelly was left loose for 2 late points when the game was there for the taking. A few very stray passes went to Kilkenny men on 3 or 4 occasions and Kielys bizarre free in the second have where he gave it straight to Reid resulted in a point. Currams tried his heart out to get into it today but it wasn't happening for him but yet strangly Egan, Kiely and Kinsella were all subbed instead of him. Oisin Kelly made an instant impact and showed his ball winning ability in the air. Dooley had a couple of moments of class and Bergin worked hard all day and we had further proof what the team has been missing without Mahon for the last 3 years. For years we have seen in the 2nd half the backs drop their work rate and it filters through the whole team to result in a 15 point defeat, but not this team, these defenders keep going to the very end and it in turn gives the forwards something to play for........great credit is due to all for this.
Heart warming at the end to see the lads being applauded under the terrace and roars of encouragement. Keep going lads and the great escape is possible in Leinster this year. The proof was there today that the WHOLE county is fully behind you now.
