Downloaded the Soundcloud app and listened to episode 1 last night. Very good I have to say. Really good enjoyable interview with Sean Ryan. I'll listen to episode 2. Is this a completely independent venture, or a M103 involved? If they are, it might be an idea to include snippets of commentary from games as you introduce segments. Like if you are talking about games, or goals in a game, the little clip of the commentary can be a nice segue to the talk.

I more meant to get a vision/scope of what has happened since and how they feel the plan is being implemented. Their names are linked heavily on a lot media platforms to this plan and there doesn't appear to be any comments from the guys. This would also apply to Brian Carroll obviously. He has voiced his opinions and concerns but there has been no concluding review since.

I think that between 2/3 to 4/5 clubs in a divisional side would be efficient depending on area, numbers, etc.
Obviously one of the two teams could be promoted. I have alternative arrangements in the event of it happening.

West to East:
Shannon Gaels (Shannonbridge, St Rynaghs, Lusmagh)
St Colm’s (Doon+Erin Rovers) could have Doon/Ballycumber/Tubber-ER JOIN K/K side
St Manchan’s (Ballycumber+Tubber) see above

Selection would have to be predicated on parish or region being able to compete but not be too strong. In this sense I would only see maybe 4 or 5 regional teams.

St Broughans clubs and Ballyfore

St Vincents or remainder thereof adding in adding brigids and harps.

Clodiagh gaels clubs, Raheen, ballinagar with shamrocks.

Kk kinnity Drumcullen Birr and all south Offaly on Coolderry side of Birr, shinrone, CRC etc

Shannon rangers - St Rynaghs Lusmagh, Shannonbridge, Doon

West Offaly Gaels - Tubber Ballycumber, Erin Rovers. Ballinamere Durrow could join there if were not at senior.

That is six teams. Play two groups of three - only two matches each separate from other senior clubs so they have their chance to succeed. Top club in each group earn place in one of two reserved quarter final places.

This way, minimal interference with clubs. County board would have to put cap on volume of training sessions allowed also. Ie, only train once per week and players with clubs most of time. Won't work if this does not happen.

Rest of senior clubs - 8 in total play two groups of four.

Top team straight to semi. Second plays quarter v one of regional teams

Bottom teams play off for relegation. This way you could wrap it all up over 6 weekends (max three group games, quarter semi and final). Start in July when Offaly finished so players know where they stand and have something to aim for.

Have leagues all wrapped up by start of June, incentivise it with financial prize and or finals in OConnor park while allowing time to prioritise u21 championship through spring and let lads play county hurling and football.

Not a bad idea, methinks Doon would prefer to be with their fellow parishioners. I heard stories of how Shannon Gaels came about, and themselves and the ‘Bridge are not too fond of each other.

There may be other sides that clubs just don’t get along with each other.

I also question the West Offaly Gaels name, St Manchan’s is their underage side’s name. Probably more appropriate.
Other than that, good format.

Methinks Durrow could slot in with Shamrocks if they were to drop down, with Na Fianna emerging.

Yes.

A club is a club. It is inconceivable that someone could play championship for two different entities in the same county in the same year.

Look at the Minor hurling championship, with the Final yet to be played. Now, I stress that I DON'T blame anyone for this (rather it was unfortunate that the clubs who reached the Minor hurling semi-finals were also involved with clubs who reached the final stages of Senior, Junior and Intermediate championships, championships which had deadlines for Leinster club competitions, and/or there were three way playoffs, dual code players and the like) but how much longer would the Minor hurling be held up if there were fellas who were playing two adult grades?

If clubs want to join together then it is up to those clubs to make that arrangement themselves, it will not work if imposed from without. Item: the Leamonaghan parish hurling club. But there is enough fixture congestion without making more.

Obviously could only work if players wanted it and nobody imposing anything. Just suggesting.

It is regularly done in other counties, allowing junior and inter club players to play at higher level where they could be noticed for county. Cork hurling final this year had regional team compete and often happens in kerry.

Ask most players in junior and inter clubs between Tullamore and Edenderry and Tullamore and Ferbane and they'd be happy for to have opportunity

Could also work for hurling in getting players in North and northeast of county playing at senior level. Where it works, a county player in one code does not play divisional team in other code. Ie, a Kk inter county senior hurler would not play divisional football for divisional team that would include KK. So if in unlikely event that county hurling team got on run, it would not affect games being played!

You are looking at two group matches, after which 4 out of 6 teams are gone. I think that is doable. There are many weekends where players have no game! This would help redress the training : games balance. Absolutely no reason why two games couldn't be played in one week in my opinion. Sat with club, wed with divisional team.

Issues with minor disappears next year as no minor will be allowed play adult ball!
