Great round overall. He had a few half chances of birdies on the back nine that just didn't drop in.
Still it's a great sign that despite the high winds he is landing the approach shots close.
15 of 18 greens hit in regulation. Good form so far.

Great day for Shane, good to see the tricolour up there with the UK and US flags. Good luck to Shane today and over the weekend.

Best of luck this evening to Shane in US Open.

4 shot lead is nice but on a tough course nothing is certain.

He looked very comfortable this morning when finishing third round and the par put on 18 was massive as Shane showed with his fist pump.

Winning the WGC Bridgestone proved he can win at the highest level.

Come on Shane !

Lowry has now proved he has the ability to win a major. The experience of this tournament will stand to him.
Dustin Johnson had several close runs before he finally captured a major.

Superb!
It was clear for years he had the ability to land a big one. It just needed to all come together at the right time.

Just back for the reception on The Green in Clara, some crowds!
Fair rendition of The Rover to end the event from Mundy. Great occasion.

Fantastic, the man has done no end of good for himself, family, community, county, country and his sport!

I have never seen a more popular winner of a sporting occasion I think than him. I remember Barry McGuigans wins being emotional at the time given the terrible violence in the background but this is on another level.

Its massive to see this from the county perspective and should be a great boost over the coming years. Not alone golf but the support he has given in the background to the GAA.

Celebrate the win Shane and then drive on to further glory in the future, keep her lit!

Undoubtedly this is great news. Whatever the financial element may look like, I think it will create a bit of buzz in the county.
And it's important to note that Lowry has been giving assistance to club and county long before this.
In case people form an impression that he only decided to get involved while watching Limerick win on tv.

Our next challenge is to use our resources wisely. We can have good leadership, improving finances, but we'll only be as good as how organised we are at grass roots level. If every one of us in county could find a way to up our contribution in whatever avenue possible we'd see improvements.
