Club Faithful Event Pre Longford game

Post by Club Faithful »

Club Faithful To Hold Event Ahead of Footballers Championship Opener

CLUB FAITHFUL, the Offaly GAA Supporters club will hold a pre match social event on Saturday the 16th of May at 4.30pm/5pm ahead of the Offaly v Longford Leinster Senior Football championship clash in O'Connor Park at 7pm the same evening.

The event will be held in the Tullamore GAA centre, across the road from O'Connor Park and it will give supporters from the clubs of Offaly a chance to get together before the match and help build an atmosphere ahead of the big game.

Dinner will be served on the evening and there will be a full bar in operation also while some well known pundits in the GAA world will be on hand to preview the all important championship clash between Offaly and Longford.

Former Offaly manager and Longford native Eugene McGee is already confirmed as a guest speaker with more names to be announced in due course while Offaly hurling legend and RTE pundit Michael Duignan will be the MC for the evening.

It is hoped that the clubs of Offaly will be out in force to support Offaly on Saturday 16th May as a home championship game is an advantage best utilised with a big home following.

Tickets for the event can be bought from your local club and Club Faithful hope to have points of contact in all clubs before the week is out. Tickets are priced at just 15 euro a head and that includes dinner and parking for the match (if parked by 5pm) in O'Brien Park, the home of Tullamore GAA.

The parents of the players on the Offaly Senior football panel will be invited as guests of Club Faithful while the after match supporters zone, open to all supporters, normally held under the stand in O'Connor Park will be held across the road in the Tullamore GAA centre where complimentary tea and coffee will be served.

Any profits made from this event will be put back into the underage teams in the County to fund such schemes as the educational Grinds for Minor panels which are currently on-going and other such future endeavors to help underage development. There will be more details on this supporters event in the coming weeks.

Great initiative and would encourage all to come along and support this as it goes back to the heart of the game in player development.

Will be a great way to get the evening going in advance of the big game.

A great idea by Club Faithful. Really like the idea of this to get a buzz going before the match. Very nice touch with the parents of the players also.

I saw on Twitter yesterday, there is an Open Day next week for children and fans alike to meet the county hurlers and footballers in OCP. Good activity going.

It's been a very good couple of weeks for Offaly. Hopefully the Minor Footballers and Hurlers can keep up the momentum in their next games and then all roads lead to OCP on the 16th.

Further to the first post, Leinster championship winners in 1997 - Roy Malone and Vinny Claffey will also take part in the pre match duscussion along with Eugene McGee.

Both men played in Offalys last home Championship win over Longford back in the 1st round in 1997 before Offaly went on to win Leinster.

More names will be announced in due course. Full details of the event can be found in the opening post in this thread.

Can you pay on the door for this event or do you need to pay in advance?

You buy a ticket in advance. You can contact your club or Club Faithful Chairman PJ Rickard on 087 8304017 to buy them. You won't be turned away on the day obviously but we would prefer patrons buying tickets in advance so we have a hold on numbers. Seats at tables can't be guaranteed to those paying at the door.
