These names might provide hope for the likes of us ryot but a name never made a hurler. These guys have to make it for themselves and it wont be easy.
Too true & I know it only too well but hurling is very much about tradition, skills and dedication. I would hope that these lads would shave a fair chance of making it.............

Lusmagh is in west Offaly. You, being from east Offaly (and not from Birr as you would like us to think) wouldn't know that. Now go off and make a show of yourself on a few other websites. It's a great laff.

Best of luck to the minor hurlers today. Into the lions den that is Parnell Park again and hopefully they can take heart from the footballers display last week.
Lot of debate in Dublin as to their selection. A lot of first year minors selected and 10 clubs represented but with no player from some of the bigger clubs such as Lucan, Ballyboden or Cuala. Still a lot of talent on display but if we go at them we should have nothing to fear.

Look's like I'm going to be stuck in work.
So best of luck to the team and management.

Agree with dubbiff. this group has improved a lot in the last few months and if they really believe in themselves and go for it, they are capable of causing an uprest. Best of luck to management and players.

Lost by around 9 points and a man sent off with 5 mins to go. Haven't got details yet but seemingly raced into a 4 point lead and the first half was very tight

This was a good effort by the young Offaly men in what was a step-up in standard for them. Offaly faced the obvious disadvantages (sheer size and physical strength, fielding), yet made Dublin fight all the way.

The Offaly management were encouraging the diagonal ball into the full-forward line and this paid dividends early on, when quick ball yielded early settling scores. The team looked to be well selected, smaller, quicker forwards inside, taller ball-winning ones on the half-line. Thing was, Dublin had 15 lads who were the same size as Ciarán Cleary and Oisín Kelly.

The Ballyhale referee Michael O’Sullivan, handled the game well. He was exact on the ‘steps’ rule, meaning Ofaly were rewarded with a free on the occasions they put pressure on the Dublin ball-carrier, legally forcing him into holding onto possession and conceding the free.

The one thing which punished Offaly was their own insistence on hitting the ball on the ground whenever possible, as if the game was being played on a putting green. I’d say at least six of Dublin’s 19 scores came from possession being turned over in this manner. The ould lads in the attendance were delighted with the putting on display, but the reality is that such stroke selection was costly. I get the impression management didn’t approve either. Now, Offaly players were under pressure, but Offaly hurling will not improve until the default position changes from a putt to a pick.

Offaly are drawn against Laois next, and on Saturday’s evidence, are not without hope.

FFS, we've gone from playing ground hockey to golf! Do we have to play shinty and croquet after that before we move to playing hurling?
At least the flat earthers in Offaly hurling circles are being kept happy.

just wondering while its a trend for our hurlers to have a morale victory of sorts is fitness a problem in last twenty or is it down to giving it a go early and see what happens. I commend the effort put in and love when the underdog tag works for us but do wonder is it mindset or do we just bust the lungs and it catches up later on in games

based on the games the teams have played against each other up along the grades, I think there will be a serious gulf in class between OY and LS. If LS fail to win by less than double digits it will register as a poor return.
