Re: Championship Draws
Good question theoutsider
Also what is the new structure for Senior, Senior B and Intermiediate football? I think there are just 8 teams left in each grade? Will they all play each other once or is it 2 groups of 4?

Re: Championship Draws
As far as I know its all 8 teams play each other once and then its 1v4 and 2v3 and bottom two in relegation final. Think this is ridiculous as there will be a lot of dead rubber games near the end and teams can afford to lose 3/4 games. Whats the point of that? I know it gives more games but just think its the wrong way. 2 groups of 4 would of been perfect.
Re: Championship Draws
The draws are usually held the first or second week in February and the leagues usually start at the end of February /early March .
8 in a championship is a very small number but at least the championships will be more open .
The senior B and the Intermediate championships in the football will be particularly interesting as a team you might fancy winning a championship could easily find themselves in relegation trouble.
A group of 4 where you play each team once could be ruthless in the regards you may only have 3 championship games in the year (not a bad thing in my opinion that with so much riding on each game) , but players training all year around may not be happy with that scenario .
To have a situation where you have a group of 4 and play each team twice or a situation where each team in the championship plays each other once will lead to a long meaningless championship .

With regard u21 champioship as far as I know is that the County Board want it played off but clubs are against it as the offaly u21s are in the hastings cup at the moment and a few are college tied. It was scheduled for this weekend but I think its been lined up for next weekend.

Re: Championship Draws
Check the auld Offaly Gaa Twitter there "theoutsider " it says the draws for the IHC ,JHC and JFC will be made at the March meeting due to the county board waiting on Killeigh and Killurin to decide if they were joining together . So now that they have I presume that Clodaigh Gaels might want to enter a football team in the Junior championship and the county board will have to decide on Junior C football, Junior B football , Junior A football or they might even have a team in each !! Or as you said the draw is made so I could be completely wrong .theoutsider wrote:I think you should check your facts Kingscounty. Junior A Hurling and Football draws are not been made till march.
