Anybody know how the friendly with Tipperary went on Monday night in O'Connor Park? How are things shaping up before the Kerry match.

I came across great Kerry website - Terrace Talk. It has some great stats on player appearances right up from Minor and scores etc. Anyway, I happened to come across the Kerry team that defeated Offaly in the All Ireland Minor Q/F in 2008.

Very interesting to see some familiar faces on the Kerry team that day:
1. Brian Kelly
2. Padraig Ready
3. Barry Shanahan
4. Fionn Fitzgerald
5. Peter Crowley
6. Jonathan Lyne
7. Maurice Hickey
8. Jamie O'Sullivan
9. Wayne Guthrie
10. Mike-Tim O'Sullivan
11. Daithi Casey
12. Colm O'Shea
13. Barry John Keane
14. Barry John Walsh
15. Cian Tobin

Among the subs that day was James O'Donoghue!

7 of that minor team as far as I can were part of the Kerry Seniors this year! Huge proportion of players that are now considered among the best in the country. When you consider Offaly the level of fall offs between minor and u21 and in turn senior is significant.

From memory i think they defeated Offaly quite well that day.

Still interesting to have a look at that team though. I think Ken Kellaghan was over that team, beaten in a Leinster Final in Croke Park by Longford after hockeying the same Longford team in the first round?

It was 2010 when Longford came back from a 22 point first defeat to steal Offaly's lunch in the Leinster final.
In 2008 Offaly were edged out by Meath in the final with a last minute point.

Of the string of Leinster final defeats in that era, you'd have to think that if Offaly had managed to fall over the line in just one of them, it might have marked a mindset change in the county.
When there's tiny bit more belief about them, it's easier to keep a team that has won a bit of silverware together and bring them through to the next level.
