Nobody from my club was told officially about league draws/scructures. Just checked the secretary email account and still no email. How were we supposed to know when it was to start.ryot wrote:lostinjuniora

Re: 2013 Fixtures
Cheers!
But what I'm really trying to find out is what are the fixtures for the last weekend in Aug and first weekend in September and what the story is with the knockout stages and relegation in the SFC?

Re: 2013 Fixtures
Looks to me like the Master List is still 'up to date', with football's round 4 this weekend as scheduled. Though Clara v Cloghan still needs to be refixed.
On that basis, SFC round 5 is w/e 18th Aug, SFC Q/Fs on w/e 8th Sept.
Unless I am missing something.
The gap, with SHC r5 and SHC Q/Fs on the consecutive weekends 25th Aug & 1st Sept seems to be an effort to have a football weekend on All-Ireland hurling Final weekend, with a hurling weekend on All-Ireland football Final weekend.

Re: 2013 Fixtures
Years of experience have thought me not to look at the Offaly GAA website if I needed information about Offaly GAA, I guess things have changed!! Many Thanks!

Re: 2013 Fixtures
It would appear that the Master Fixtures List will not apply after this weekend. Clara v St Rynaghs Football championship game was postponed at the request of the Offaly Senior Hurling Management. I do not remember any Clara or St Rynaghs Player, actually playing any part in any of Offaly's Senior Hurling Championship games. I trust that the Clara v St Rynaghs football game will be the only Senior Championship game to be played on the weekend of August 18th. The last round of the football championship group games will have to move to the weekend of August 25th. The last round of the hurling championship games will move to the weekend of Sept 1st and the hurling quarter-finals to the weekend of September 15th. I feel sorry for the people who gave so much time to preparing the Masters Fixtures when their work was destroyed by the Offaly Senior Hurling Management for no apparent reason.

You've evidently never heard of Pat Camon then.
And you call yourself a 'sharp eye'.

Re: 2013 Fixtures
Offaly Fixtures Committee have been most unfair to Clara's Senior Footballers. They had a first round game on May 3rd. Their next game was over 10 weeks later on July 19th. Their last game was on August 2nd last which ensured qualification for the County Quarter-Final. Surely club players deserve more than 3 meaningful games each summer. This week despite having qualified for the championship knockout they have to play on Wednesday and again on Sunday. Some of these players had an Intermediate Championship game on Saturday last. What is the point of drafting "Master Fixtures" in order to provide clubs with just 3 meaningful games between April and the end of August. In soccer and rugby, local club players enjoy regular games during their peak season.

Re: 2013 Fixtures
Did Pat Camon play Senior Championship Hurling for Offaly this year?

No. PC was listed as a sub for the Waterford match but was unable to take his place on the bench following an injury I believe he sustained in a 15-a-side training game on the weekend between the Kilkenny and Waterford matches. He was able to line out for the U21s against Kilkenny following cryotherapy treatment on his injury.

Pat Donegan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
"Offaly's hurling is exact and abrasive: full of assurance on the ball, devoid of fumbling and slicing and sod-busting". Kevin Cashman RIP (September 1994).
