Offaly GAA Supporters Club To Relaunch

'Club Faithful' Aiming to Awaken Faithful Supporters

The Offaly Supporters Club is to relaunch on Thursday the 6th of December in a bid to reignite the proud and famed Offaly spirit. Tough times on the field of play in recent years has seen somewhat of a drop in support for our teams and the relaunch night is only the start of a reinventing project planned by 'Club Faithful', the new name of the Offaly Supporters Club.
There will be two launches on Thursday 6th December with the County Arms in Birr holding the opening launch at 7pm before moving on to the Tullamore Court Hotel for 9pm. The idea behind this is to make it as accessible as possible to as many Offaly Gaels as possible from all corners of the County.
The main aim of the club is to revive the faithful Offaly supporters, getting them to come in numbers to the games starting with the O’Byrne and Walsh Cup games and to integrate the players into the community.
In harsh economic times, our County teams will need all the help they can get to make sure they are prepared in the best possible way and 'Club Faithful' will be aiming to support them in any way they can.
A structure has been put in place for fundraisers and various other initiatives with Ollie Baker, Emmet McDonnell and the players themselves fully committed to integrating into the supporters community. Full details of all initiatives will be announced on at the launches. Projects for the children in our County are also high on the agenda such as a GAA Jersey day in National schools, collector cards of Offaly players for the children to collect and swap along with player interactions on match days.
The players from both the senior hurling and football panels will also take part in an 'Awakening Walk' on New Years Eve (Monday 31st December) in a bid to highlight the reinvention of the club and to make people aware that they value every shred of support that all Offaly Gales give them throughout the year.
The Hurlers will commence walking in Shannon Harbour with the footballers starting out in Edenderry and both will make their way to Tullamore along the banks of the Grand Canal where they will eventually meet. Supporters will also be encouraged to join them in the last mile to show them some support.
The Club will be run by supporters, for the supporters. A Forum for Faithful supporters to meet before and after matches and to chat players after the matches will also be put in place while it is hoped that car pooling and in some cases buses can be organised to go to games in a bid get some comradery and a sense of atmosphere instilled into the club as well as making it as cost effective as possible to attend matches home and away.
Specific 'Club Faithful' merchandise will also come on stream to buy down the line. Social media outlets will also be up and running soon and an email alert list to keep members informed on what's going on.
The committee are undertaking this task on a voluntary basis to bring some excitement back in to been an Offaly supporter. Together we can make a difference and help the facets of our teams, schools and underage development. The price of membership will be a mere 20 euro and for Offaly Gaels both at home and abroad, this will represent a worthwhile and much appreciated donation to a club dedicated and passionate about reviving an Offaly spirit that has seen us dawn the pitch of Croke Park in protest, to travelling the length and breath of the Country following our County.
Finally, we would urge as many people as possible to attend our launches and to see for themselves what our plans are for the future. Your County needs you.

I like the fact that this seems to be about a lot more than just milking the supporters for a few bob. There seems to be a genuine recognition here that our support is either poor (hurling) or downright shocking (football) and that going to Offaly games needs to be a much more appealing experience all round. There would be a temptation to look at the huge money coming in from the likes of the Tipp group and say that it would be great to get something like that, but local businesses have given a lot to Offaly GAA in the last few years without getting too much back. There isn't a big pile of money there waiting to be seized, we have to start with getting a bit of enthusiasm back into the whole situation.

Sound likes a great initiative. Lets hope it kicks on from here.
It seems to tick the boxes. Increase awareness amongst the public, enhance the match day experience, give people a bit of kick back for their donations also.

Just to remind everyone that we are launching tonight in The County Arms in Birr at 7pm and in the Tullamore Court Hotel at 9pm. We need everyone to come on board and drive this new supporters club on.

We can't do any good on the field of play but we can do our level best off the field to make sure our supporters both young and old are supporting our faithful teams in mens, Camogie, Ladies Football and our underage teams.

Membership is only 20 euro and can be taken on the night in both venues. Players and management will be at both venues as well as some former greats to dawn the green, white and gold.

Our aim is to give supporters what they want. The players appreciate every chant and every good wish. Player and supporter integrating together is also a major part of our plan.

Hope to see you all there in Birr or Tullamore Tonight...

Daf - there will be loads of ways to pay the membership. Tonight is just the start of it really. We hope to be out and about at events over the christmas and to be able to make it as easy as possible to pay. I will report back in due course.

Once you get an INTERNET presence established, you could also set up a payment by PayPal feature.

Best of luck to all involved. Hopefully we can start the small steps to getting back where we belong. I'll be joining up anyway.

Your a great man on the keyboard POTH, how about a bit of encouragement for these lads efforts? Can imagine you with the spectacles half way down the nose, sneering and hoping for grammer & spelling errors. Pathetic really!

I didn't know what the sentence meant. I wanted clarification. I got it. The end.

Is there a problem with Club Faithful?. Having attended the recent launch in the Court Hotel, I contacted one of the CF officers last Monday week, asking for an application form, which was promised. To date not a sign!!!, I then e mailed a request last Thursday, same response or lack of one!!!
Can some of the people who are in charge please comment on this situation, or was it all hype that night in the TCH?
I would have thought that people would be glad to get supporters to hand over €20.00 in these difficult times, with a lot more pressing demands on families.
Over to you guys. :(
