It could get much lower if heads stay in the sand.townblue wrote:does it get any lower jesus
Give credit to Westmeath though.
They ran Kilkenny close, so comprehensively beating an outfit like Offaly fits in with the form book.

No real surprise though. this is a quality westmeath team with some good hurlers
He is so bad in goal he needs the net in front of him.

Townman leaving aside the fact that BnaM man is no more a Ferbane man than you are, and the fact that being from an area which has IN GENERAL more of an interest in football than hurling is no barrier to having an interest in hurling or having some constructive comment to make, I can't understand the attitude you have in terms of measuring the hurlers in relation to the county footballers.
First and foremost, the footballers operate in a completely different system - there are at least 20 counties in Ireland where football comes a clear first over hurling, and probably only four (KK, Tipp, Waterford and Clare) that show the same preference for hurling. The footballers operate in a world where division four teams can catch division two sides out on a given day, and where there is a 12 point bookies handicap when the best team in Ireland (Cork) play the 3rd worst team in ireland (Clare). If Tipperary played any team ranked 11 or 12 in Ireland the bookies would be setting a bigger spread than that. If Offaly were to play a bad division two side it could even be that high. It's a different world and it's not comparing like with like. You don't see the Irish rugby team justifying a bad day against Wales or Italy by saying that at least we're not ranked 50th in the world like the soccer lads.

Kevin Egan. Signed out of respect for players and all involved with Offaly.
