clubs failure to turn up for games

we were due to play gracefield today in clonmore and gracefield or the referee didnt bother to turn up,is this common nowadays? they seemly did get in contact with someone in the area last nite,this person is no longer involved with the club and hasnt been for a few years so i dont know how they even got their phone no,the only contact with the referee was when a phone call was made to him at 11.45 and he said he was on the way to mayo to a funeral,fair enough,but is this the way things are dealt with?
