Fixtures Scheduling

Post by Lone Shark »

Anyone else think the fixture's this weekend were a bit strange?

I'm referring to having a county semi final, a big attraction and one of the best money spinners for the county all year, on at the same time as a hurling fixture featuring the club due to play the winners of aforementioned semi.

I'd estimate that there must have been a good 200 odd Shamrocks followers and club players/members who would have gone to Tullamore yesterday to scout on their county final opponents if the game hadn't been put directly alongside the hurling playoff with Belmont in Rath.

I understand that there are a lot of considerations, but surely putting the Junior B/Senior Shamrocks vs Belmont double header on in the morning and having Kilcormac vs Rynaghs at six would have made more sense??

Maybe it only would have been another 50 people, but even still thats €500 to the county board. Any reason why this had to be foregone?
