with the players that were call in . and the rhode players gone to aussie. no chance mush .
dubs win handy. plus no new blood on the panel . dont like to judge football to much as i am from
the home of hurling. birr hope sean ryan gets a game as good as any of them.of course his not from
the football side of it.

Meaningless tournment that should be scrapped. The only games that should be played are National Football League games and Championship matches. After that it should be up to teams to prepare themselves. O'Byrne cup does little more than allow every Tom, Dick, Harry and other Mickey Mouse characters have a go and say they played for Offaly!

Re: O'Byrne Cup
he is good but thiers players pick a head of him . that are not better .
look he was man of the match in the under21 final against laois two years ago.
brought him on a against the dubs in 07 he was the best on the field .
now they are picking lads that were there 10 years ago e.g. comerford mullhall
thats all iam saying maybe richie will be different //???/??

Re: O'Byrne Cup
hard to judge value of O Byrne cup. Good run is good for confidence entering league and might be worth a win or two in first games as it brings good match fitness. Problem is too far from championship which is what counts and invariably teams that go well in it are not there the third sunday in september.
However, teams in north take the McKenna cup seriously as guaranteed 2/3 matches so something that perhaps that could be done with o Byrne cup. No way will it be scrapped though, it brings money in to the coffers for some county boards, money that is all too scarce.
