Players that never filled their potential
Players that never filled their potential
Anyone know any players they think never made it with serious potential under-age??
I'd have to go with Eoin Marsden.. that lad basically won a minor for tullamore on his own a few years ago even though he was only 16..
Adrian Cahill obviously in the hurlin aswell.

I wouldn't agree Marsden won the minor on his own. That was a good well balanced Tullamore team. He played very well in the semi and scored 4 points from play and played well enough in the Final. What won the final was when Tullamore brought on Westman fella and he scored a goal after the Ref allowed him take about 9 steps.bazza wrote:Anyone know any players they think never made it with serious potential under-age??

Re: Players that never filled their potential
mickey flynn played very well at wing back for Tullamore yesterday against Clara?
Paul Dillane was a good freetaker at underage but that was about it?
Morris played for Ireland in the underage International Rules series but disappeared off the radar after that?

Likewise as mentioned by True Red Neil Morris (Under-17 internationalrules) and David Lee were quality.
Any Tullamore man to shine some light.
Neil Morris was really meant to be the next big thing.
The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast.
Re: Players that never filled their potential
Football:
Basil Malone, Syllvester Nutterfield (Edenderry og), Neil Morris and Michael Flynn (Tullamore) Shane Cunningham (Shamrocks), Brian Smith (Gracefield), Ivan Melia (Clara)
Hurling:
David Kearney (Ballyskenach), Jimmy Doyle and Mark Guinan (Kilcormac), Adrian Hayes (St Rynaghs), Cillian Farrell (Edenderry), Stephen Delaney (Shamrocks).
Im sure theres loads more i could name if i thought about it. All of the above were excellent players up to minor level and all would have seemed destined to be stars of future county teams.......Never happened.

Re: Players that never filled their potential
dillane had plenty of potential, could kick frees with both feet both off the ground and out of his hands, tullamore had alot of lads who should have played at a higher level, m flynn is still going strong, but could have been a mainstay with offaly for years,
