just wondering if anyone had any fresh news or views ahead of Sundays rescheduled game in Drogheda, just wondering is there any hope of seeing Niall McNamee back in the foreseeable future..we need a serious score getter....all games are hard in this division so one cannot say anyone game is going to be easier than another...

This was important win because the early indications are that Louth and Leitrim will be in the relegation mix. If Offaly win in Leitrim next week then both Louth and Leitrim would need 6 points to finish above Offaly on the table. Not trying to show a lack of ambition, but first priority is to maintain D3 status, start to look upwards if that has been taken care of.

With 31 of the 44 2nd half minutes played yesterday, Louth looked a sure a bet. They had cut an 11 point Offaly lead down to just a single point and had the momentum and the wind. So often this happens in GAA though, the big comeback stalls just when there's a point in it.
John Maughan will take great comfort in the way Offaly were able to close the game out. Louth lost their discipline and Offaly kept their heads. 12 months ago, Offaly would have lost in these circumstances.

Any update on Niall lads? It's a disgrace what happened to him and surprising not more has been made it.
Sincerely hope we see him again in Offaly and Rhode colours again if not this year then next year.
Was the "incident" caught on video in the semi final last year does anyone know?

If memory serves me correct he only got a yellow card as well. The game was recorded on Offaly gaa tv but incident I think happened near middle of field so angle may have been missed.
That day there could have been more like Niall now the way that first half was played for a 5-10 minute spell.

vital win last Sunday, great to hold out, after such a momentus comeback from Louth, it was remarkable scoring for such a dreadful day (yes, I am always bemoaning how little we score sometimes:)..anyway...Leitrim next weekend, this will be a very very tricky away game, they need to win too of course and at home will be hard to beat, great if we can get over the line here, a bit of momentum would be grand heading into some very tricky games ahead...

Correct about Leitrim game, a win for Offaly will put them on 5 points, with a home game v promotion contenders Down, on Sunday.
Leitrim one 1 point will see this as winnable, so a tough day ahead.

Leitrim have beaten Offaly in the past and while they will be wary of us they wont fear us, hopefully our shooting shoes will be on without a gael force wind this weekend, we just done that wee (excuse the pun playing Louth!) bit better in the first half on Sunday last than Louth did in the second, If we could get a calm day on Sunday and a half decent pitch, we would find out alot about where we are and where we need to be..Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon, I have flashbacks to games in the late 80's early 1990's in the old Div 3 North with Leitrim defeating us with with scores like 3-05 to 1-08 or something similar..anyway, Sunday is another day and hopefully we can pick up to crucial points.

Must win game this weekend. We should have too much for Leitrim and i think coming through a stern examination last weekend in quite trying conditions will really stand to us. They won't be easily beaten, they gave Derry a right scare earlier in the league. If we are lucky enough to get better weather this weekend our experience at this level and our general upward curve should see us through.
