Best of luck to all involved, be hoping supporters travel to cheer on the boys.

Strong team - not carrying many injuries by the looks of things

Delighted for Eoin Carroll to be back in after a horrendous run of injuries, and delighted for Offaly that we have him. It'll be a big ask for a few of the more inexperienced lads but I'm getting slight twinges of optimism now.

Best of luck to Offaly!
For most of the last 15 years Meath have not been as good as Meath people think they are.

While this is a tricky assignment, Offaly shouldn’t fear them at all.
Looking at team, it’s probably the strongest line up we’ve had out in the last 5 years.

Best of luck on Sunday. I’d agree with the sentiments of the prior posters.
Without inside knowledge, or anything that I’ve heard, I think that there will be a change before throw in.
Sure we’ll give it our best shot. If that’s good enough, happy days, if not, hard luck.

I really wish the County board would include all panel members in their team lists. I see they did it for the minor team the other night, but normally they just post the starting 15.

Some effort from the lads, by god best performance I have seen in years. We were fit and we attacked Meath who looked anything but a division 1 team. Two glorious goal chances we didn’t take that would have put this game to bed. Great effort from everyone lads heads up and keep her lit.

Fair play to Offaly and John Maughan, fantastic effort by team. With a little more experience we could have won today.
If Offaly can hold on when leading a game, they could be a force.

Offaly win 1 Leinster Championship match in 12 years and a poster thinks we could be “a force”. Im all for positivity and optimism but a bit of realism wouldn’t go astray either.

Lookit. Could we have won? Yes. Should we have won? Yes. Did we win? No.
That being said, there’s a lot of positives to be taken away from the game.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Niall McNamee should have fisted the ball over, instead of opting for a goal.
A sloppy goal, unfortunately. I thought that Moloney should have been put inside after they got the goal.
What was the hop ball for from one of our kickouts?

Onwards and upwards. Plenty of positives, plenty to work on.
The qualifier draw will be interesting, whenever it takes place.
Tipp, Derry, Waterford, Wicklow, Leitrim among the teams that we could face. London and Wexford also.

What's disgraceful about it?

You're not a fan of statistics I take it?

Actually Offaly beat Longford 3 years ago. I don't recall commenting then. Offaly did not win yesterday, but there is a lot to work on.

by Truth as i see it
I'm sure that many will analyze this game for negatives as well as positives and that is fair game, but i prefer to focus on the positives despite the defeat, that boys showed all of the DNA of what i believe Offaly Football is all about, heart, pride, guts, determination and most important of all, no fear of the opposition, well done boys, everything but the result was there, best of luck in the qualifiers
